The Return of Sheep - RESULT
First topic message reminder :
Sheep is back albeit without the late (great) host paperbag_puncher.
Anyone ever play sheep? Basically I'll ask a series of "culturally" related questions and the aim is to answer with the most popular answer. You would PM me your answers for each round. So for example if in a sports round I asked name a boxing heavyweight champion and 7 people said Ali they would get 7 points. If 5 said Louis they would get 5 points and so on. There will be 10 questions in each round. Whoever gets the most points in each round of questions wins. There will be 5 rounds in each season provided the pilot is successful.
Points will be awarded to the first 5 players in each game no matter how many players.
1st -10
2nd-7
3rd-5
4th-3
5th-1
If there is a tie for a position players will get equal full points for their position, eg if 3 people tie for 1st then all 3 will get 10 points each. Games must have a minimum of 10 players. The winner of each season will be the person with most points after the 10 games. If level after 10 games the winner will be decided by how many 1st places a person had and so on.
Overall placings, and the new........

I'm pretty sure that the age profile of my fellow competitors determines the popularity of some of the answers.

Dont worry - we will score highly in the Charleston round.

Of course. Still in with a chance, there be 5-7 rounds in total, possibly includingh a round of Heep for double points.

I wouldn't bother, Cane. It is an appalling quiz. Absolutely awful. Hence it being moved to the Nerds & Virgins section.
It ain't no UCPL or Culture Cup 2.0, that's for sure.

I don't think we'll see the likes of the UCPL again, it had its own lounge and everything.

So no definitive round structure? Are you just making this up as you go along?

I've been a staunch supporter of Sean through the years but this is embarrassing.

I said there will be 5 rounds. Will happily extend to 7provided the popularity of the quiz is still far and above anything ever seen on 606v2.

That's the way- not orthodox, I don't live by "the rules" you know. And if there's one other person who's influenced me in that way I think, someone who is a maverick, someone who does that to the system, then, it's Ian Botham. Because Beefy will happily say "that's what I think of your selection policy, yes I've hit the odd copper, yes I've enjoyed the old dooby, but will you pi5s off and leave me alone, I'm walking to John O'Groats for some spastics.

I really wanted this to be successful, so people wouldn't laugh at Sean constantly behind his back, but it's just a comedy of errors. Making the rules up as he sees fit. Adding extra rounds; probably to help someone win.
I must admit, I was jokingly harsh towards Hero and his Music Cup; oh how i wish this was run with even half the ability.

I'm surprised he got any votes, good player that he was. I'm equally surprised Pietersen didn't get a vote.

Fury like it or not just beat the best heavyweight in the world, which surely makes him the best current British boxer? I'lll admit I went for Hamilton, not because I believe he's the best, but for tactical reasons...
Best ever England batsman must have produced some very different opinions, judging from the low score of the winner?
Also, Ronnie O'Sullivan?????

Gooch seemed the obvious choice, not long ago enough to be forgotten and not current enough to be overlooked.

Not sure about that, even though you're probably right, judging by the fact he won.

I thought I voted for Sir Jack Hobbs who is unquestionably England's greatest batsman, I may also have said that I didn't really care who anyone else voted for.

Hobbs wasn't in the best English batsmen of his era; Hammond and Sutcliffe fight over that honour.

That's very debatable. Sutcliffe has the better average, but most say Hobbs was the better bat. Hammond was another who was in my mind, plus Pietersen, due to him being a great player, and a recent one.

I ruled out Pietersen for the same reason I didn't vote for Hamilton, he's seen as a bit of twonk.
In a sport that is so reliant on stats and numbers it's impossible to look past the superior averages of his contemporaries; Bell for instance is a more talented player than Cook but there's no question who the better batsmen was/is.
