interesting heavyweight match ups Empty interesting heavyweight match ups

These match ups would assume both fighters at their best

Ike ibeabuchi V Vitali Klitschko

Iron jawed cyborg Vitali against arguably one of the most talented, relentless (and sadly flawed) heavyweights in the early noughties. I think this would have been a fascinating battle as both don't like to take a step back. Result?..pick em but possibly an exhausted Vitali on points (btw don't think Wlad would survive against this guy)

David Haye v Herbie Hide

Just for the sheer fun of it - the build up would be hilarious with Hide struggling to control himself and David being himself. On paper though, good match up. Two small heavyweights, fast with decent power (although I would suspect Haye punches a bit harder)...result? I do favour a peak Haye as imo a bit more in each department..however Hides speed could be a problem. A don't blink fight!

Any more match ups

I'm not sure either Klitschko would survive Ike.

How about:

Razor Ruddock vs Evander Holyfield

Tommy Morrison vs Gerry Cooney

Jerry Quarry vs Ray Mercer

Hi Haz..funnily enough, I thought that after posting. Ike was a really scary bloke..just so so relentless and good in all departments.. You could well be right.

What about Tyson V Valuev. I couldn't imagine a meaningful punch landed all night.
Admittedly this would be fsr from interesting after about 3 rounds.

Like your other match ups Haz...Holy v Ruddock would be absorbing but on his A game..Ruddock had 2 fights against iron mike which were competitive but Mike outboxed him in one of them...Holy on points?

Riddick Bowe vs Ike Ibeabuchi

Riddick vs Ruddock (if only for the catchy sound)

Think Ike would have beaten an awful lot of heavyweights Dave including Bowe who was erratic and being beaten by Golota until the Pole went into meltdown..

Imagine Ike v Hide...The Nigerian showdown...only Hide wouldn't do it as it would be carnage.

Think Lennox would have beaten Ike..v hard fight though.

I see this as a heartbreaker for donovan 'eraser' ruddock. It'll be a rubbery robbery as riddick beats ruddock

sigh, I miss waingro

ibeabuchi is one of those fight fans favourite what if's. Who knows what he would have become, but the cold facts are, he edged a war with tua, and landed a great shot on chris Byrd. That's all we have to go on. He didn't knock out every opponent. A fight with Vitali would certainly have been interesting but I'm not sure he'd start favourite.

Ike vs Vitali

"The President vs The Mayor"

How all political disputes should be solved (Unless you're Boris Johnson who would challenge IS/Daesh to a jolly good game of wiff waff for all the marbles and yah boo sucks to you to the loser by jove!

Boris is just a fat Bertie Wooster

I thought Haye vs Hide at 200lb cruiser would have been very interesting.

However I would have liked to have seen Ike take on any number of the top heavies from his era. It's no secret that Lewis' people wanted nothing to do with him - he was a big risk for anyone. Briggs against Ike would have been quick and painful...

I like Holmes against Ali but both at their respective peaks and also of course Lewis vs Bowe. Vitali vs McCall in a battle of the chins and Wlad vs Akinwande to see who hugs the other one to death. As for big guys with a big punch but suspect chins - David Price vs either of Wilder or Grant.

Think Lennox would beat Bowe...Vitali v Mccall now that's intriguing. Wlad v Akinwande..ugh ugh and double ugh both would look like their creeping up on each other to snare the other in a huge net.

David Price would lack Wilders confidence which I believe is his real issue and not intrinsic ability so Wilder to win for me.

Tyson v Foreman in the early 90s wouldve been fun - was mooted and nearly come off.

Yes..I guess Tysons handlers thought Big George might just pull it off as Tyson was just that bit fragile after Buster Douglas.

I think the ideas for Tyson v Foreman only came popular retrospectively. At the time no one wanted it to see George get hurt, and Then Tyson went to jail,.
