I'd be a little peeved if I'd bright tickets to this one, what does everyone think of this?

I'm starting to think he just wants easy fights (minimal wear-and-tear on his shoulder?) until he lands the pay day against Joshua.

I refuse to believe he couldn't find a better opponent - even Malik Scott or Shannon Briggs would have been better.

Gjergjaj went 12 rounds with Bakhtov, who Joshua demolished in 2

Just sat at work and my brother has just text me saying:

Think its summed up really because I don't even think the casual fan has ever heard of this guy?

No doubt the build up will be based on his undefeated record and suppose punching power.

Another let down.  Is there any sport that delivers more let downs as consistently as boxing?  Sometimes I wish I didnt even like it, yet I keep coming back for more.

Seriously I do wanna see what he's looking like as he could be the best fighter in the division atm but like the last fight we aren't gonna see anything from him I'm a round or 2 and you can imagine that this guy (who?) Will probably not last till the end of the 2nd round

It seems Mr Briggs gatecrashed the Press Conference. That was way more entertaining than the fight will be. Thought Haye handled it quite well. Told Shannon that if he passed a brain scan and fought on the undercard he'd consider him as an opponent

... Haye was probably being serious (except about needing a scan and a fight on the undercard)

Anyway, all (much deserved) ribbing aside, does anyone think Haye's inability to secure a fight with a leading contender or anyone we've actually f*cking heard of is down to his association with the Salter Brothers (who are perhaps even more unknown than Haye's opponent). I've no idea of their background in management/promotion etc but if this is the standard of opponent Haye can expect by throwing his cap in with these guys then he may need to seriously rethink an arrangement with Eddie Hearn.

Beating this guy is going to do absolutely nothing to further his cause re fighting AJ, Wilder or Fury and all three of them could justifiably laugh him out of any negotiations were he to try discussing a possible World title shot after this.

I don't think there's any suggestion Haye couldn't land a more adept opponent than Di Mori or this new guy if his team genuinely wanted a more challenging fight. This is all by design to position Haye for a Joshua fight next summer. Briggs is just a bonus.

Haye is fighting stiffs, because he can get away with it and make decent money. The agreement to face Joshua is probably already loosely in place. All Haye has to do is bowl over a few nobodies while Joshua secures a world title and the fight can can be hyped up. Haye, as he always has, is just going down the path of least (if any) resistance. Briggs is probably only 2 gatecrashed press conferances away from being next in line. Haye isnt, and never has been avoided. When he fights stiffs, its because he wants to.

You'd certainly hope so! But I do wonder how many top 10 guys want to face Haye over here? So many fighters want to keep that undefeated run whilst waiting for a title shot. I also wonder what Hayes people are offering cash wise

Boxrec has him at 29 which is a step up from his last.

My first thought was that he had to be ranked quite high by the WBA and that Haye was positioning himself for a fight for that title if Browne's title was taken off him but that isn't the case, interestingly Briggs is ranked higher than Haye....

Really hope one of these 'easy' fights for Haye gives him a pasting.

Gut instinct is that it's a small step up from Di Mori (yes he was ranked by one body, but that was clearly a joke). But still zero chance of him putting up any realistic opposition.

It's all about the money. He doesn't want to go with a promoter because he wants to keep all the money himself. But therefore there's no TV deal... and not enough money to pay a recognisable opponent...

Probably explains why there's a Saudi Prince making his pro debut on the undercard. One would think Haye's done a nice little deal to have this on TV even if it's little more than a vanity project by some Sheikh

Who is going to be interested in Nick Blackwell in a month's time ??..How much money will he have ??...After he's recovered if he ever does fully recover.....

If you can make it the easy way in this hard business do it !!.......FACT is we shouldn't be paying for these fights and letting Haye/Brook and Promoter Hearn types earn easy money !!
