Re: NFL Draft 2016 Discussion Thread
So the 2016 NFL Draft is here. The Rams have moved upto #1 and look set to take Jared Goff. The Eagles, likewise, have move upto #2 and will probably pick Carson Wentz. I feel the Rams move was possible more about the Los Angeles Rams having the first pick than anything else but being able to make California QB Goff the face of their franchise is a huge boost for them on the west coast..
Other players being linked with teams include: Joey Bosa, Titans; DeForest Buckner, Cowboys; Vernon Butler and Jarran Reed, Lions; Corey Coleman, Benagals; Connor Cook, 49ers and Browns; Germain Ifedi and Kevin Byard, Panthers; Reggie Ragland, Bears; Justin Simmons, Lions; Noah Spence, Jets; Laquon Tredwell, 49ers and Bengals.
Myles Jack looks like a potential draft day faller, while scouts have flagged up Eli Apple over his ability to cook.

Re: NFL Draft 2016 Discussion Thread
Working on my 1 round mock draft right now, I didn't do a single mock last year but had the day off with nothing better to do (sad, I know ). Want to beat my best score of 9/32 from 2011.

Re: NFL Draft 2016 Discussion Thread
I'll put my mock up later. Just some notes on players:-
My top QB is Jared Goff, wanted the 49ers to trade up for him but it looks like the Rams will draft him now. I like Paxton Lynch alot more than Carson Wentz. Lynch is nearer Goff for me. I just don't get Wentz. He seems to want too much time to make throws. He may develop in time. He reminds me of Blake Bortles. I would maybe even put Connor Cook ahead of him. Won't be surprised to see all four QBs go in the 1st round.
Ezekiel Elliot looks a solid option at RB.
I really Josh Doctson and he is my top WR. Other receivers I like that will go tomorrow include Braxton Miller, Leonte Carroo and Charone Peake.
In terms of OL players I really like Ryan Kelly at center ans for me he is one of the top prospects in the draft. Tunsil,Stanley and Conklin are all steady at OT. Won't be surprised if Stanley goes first out of them. I also like Joe Haeg who was at North Dakota with Carson Wentz. He has been heavily linked with the Patriots in the 2nd Round.

Re: NFL Draft 2016 Discussion Thread
In terms of defence. I'm not as taken with the DL/LBs as I have in recent years with the likes of CJ Mosley, Stephone Anthony and Vic Beasley. I do like Jonathan Bullard and Joshua Perry though and it will be interesting to see where they land tomorrow.
Jalen Ramsey looks like the top prospect in the draft and I also really like Vernon Hargreaves at CB. Eli Apple and William Jackson look like solid 1st round talents. Tavon Young is a bit on the shorter side but has plenty of talent.
There are a few safeties I like. Wouldn't be surprised if either of Keanu Neal or Darian Thompson (best FS for me after Ramsey) gonin the 1st round. I also like Justin Simmons who has been linked with the Detroit Lions.

Re: NFL Draft 2016 Discussion Thread
Would be quite content to not see the Redskins picking tonight. With the sort of needs we have (DL, Safety, Center and to a lesser extent, WR) we could trade back to an early 2nd round pick and get someone good and pick up more picks. That's our ideal scenario.

My bold prediction is the Jets trade up to #6 (ahead of 49ers) to take Paxton Lynch

Re: NFL Draft 2016 Discussion Thread
Average to below average draft for the skill positions IMO. I've done most of my work on QB, RB, WR and TE for the dynasty league so I don't want to go into too much detail but I don't think Doctson is a special talent, potentially a solid possession receiver, 6'2, can contest for the ball in the air, made some athletic catches but not a #1 in the way Julio Jones, Odell Beckham Jr., Antonio Brown etc. are.mikeygnfl wrote:I'll put my mock up later. Braxton Miller is all projection, body of work not there. I like Carroo but he has character red flags and again not a #1 (there might not be one in this draft).

Makes sense really. That defence is pretty intimidating.
Ravens I think will trade down if anything is there for them. Titans for Tunsil or someone after Buckner

It's Jerry Jones right? To hell with the sensible pick, let's take the sexy skill player.
Alfred Morris is one of the first big losers of the night then.

Maybe but I wouldn't be surprised to see them stay put and draft Ronnie Stanley.CJB wrote:Makes sense really. That defence is pretty intimidating.

Alright back on track, now I can see the Browns looking to trade down with maybe the Titans moving up for Tunsil?

I think that is very likely and Titans have won the draft. Increased a number of picks and still got the man!
Heard Niners were very interested in Stanley and Buckner. Once Stanley went j think it made sense

BTW surprised to see San Diego go for Bosa... I thought they were sure fire to fortify the line and keep Rivers upright. Without Rivers, they're nothing on offense.

Ahh Conklin would be the other option. Character concerns for Tunsil must be legit.

They have invested quite a bit on their offensive line. Far too much to then also pick Tunsil or Stanley. I expected Ramsey but Bosa was less of a shock than an OT in my opinion

Titans take Conklin!
Tunsil is this year's Brady Quinn/Jonny Maziel/Geno Smith shuffling around awkwardly in the green room while he plummets?

Ouch! The redskins have just seen a couple of guys go that they'd prob have been interested in..... Joseph and Kelly.
I so hope we can get someone to trade down with. Don't know who's still kicking around though that anyone would want to trade up for. With Coleman gone maybe one of the remaining WRs.

Yeah after the Redskins it's WR alley so maybe the Bengals or Vikings want to make sure they get their guy. Oh damn I had Lee to the Jets and changed it last min...Number-25 wrote:Ouch! The redskins have just seen a couple of guys go that they'd prob have been interested in..... Joseph and Kelly.

Speed is king in the NFL, that's why he went before Treadwell and Doctson. I'm at 9 correct, one more and I beat my record.Number-25 wrote:Well done twelve... I see you called the Fuller to Houston pick in your mock. 29.04.2016

Doctson.... Had a funny feeling that with Joseph and Kelly gone and all the big 'ol DTs still left that it was gonna be Doctson or Treadwell there.
I imagine we'll look to work on the D-Line tomorrow now.

From what I've read about their injuries I'd have said that's Jaylon Smith more than Jack
I'd like us to take a shot in Jack if we can somehow get him
