I'm sure most Aussies would use this 'shark' as bait to catch spiders.

I got bitten by some motherf*cker of an insect playing cricket on Saturday. Made my whole knee swell up like a f*cking watermelon on Sunday. Still struggling with it now.

Had to have been on holiday from Australia. Nothing in this country could have done such damage.

Could it have been a wasp? I had one fly at me at high speed and just flick me - it seemed. Didn't get a huge amount of swelling but it did hurt for a few hours.

I believe millions of insects, snakes and spiders must have perished this year. I can't see how they've survived. There's been so much rain and such a large area of land is (and was) underwater. We've had around 2m of rain or 78 inches (just over that now) and it's only mid-July. Normally, we get around 1.2m a year (about twice what London gets). It will be interesting to see what's survived when the rain stops and the temperature rises again. Maybe things will be bigger and more venomous?

We had a massive fly in our flat but the cat took care of it.

(It wasn't Super' or the lesser fly (who the cat's probably had anyway)).

I don't think it was a wasp as it must have got up my trouser leg and I reckon a wasp would have stung me multiple times. This was just one bite but (legit) the worst I've ever had.

Yeah, the pictures on the news of Sydney were mad. Apocalyptic stuff. I think you're right, millions of things will have died. Hope you're ok though, Pee Jay.

If the water subsides and your creepy crawlies are "bigger and more venomous", then we are all in the sh*t. The last thing we need is bigger and more venomous Aussies critters.

Yeah, luckily I'm about 80m above sea level where I am. Those places worst hit (x 3 or 4 times) are about 3/4 hour drive away.

This Origin has been pretty brutal. Half these guys will be vegetables before they reach the age of 50.
Everyone is saying NSW will win the decider but I've been around too long. Even with a few of their star players missing - Qld will somehow grow an extra leg... concussed or not.

Cheers, Tino. Just goes to show the value of an adjective, as I don't think it would've been nearly as interesting without one.

True, but I'd quite like to be known as Mr. Sex.
In fact, Galtova does call me that occasionally.

It's mordaunting when there's silence on here. I truss you guys aren't backing Sunak. I guess a less braver man would just tug'end hat and walkway. Surely things can't get bad enoch to cause a dead heat in the last round of drinks?

It's quite interesting that, of the 8 candidates, only 2 are white males whereas I don't think Labour have had anything else as leader.

She doesn't have a beard but Arlene Foster otherwise fits the bill.  Although she does look like someone who would screw over their lottery syndicate without any shame whatsoever.

Luckily the Tory candidates have any kind of awareness or sympathy with different genders or races beaten out of them when they first become MP's

I don't believe so, but she did tell me that you have a small tic.

There's just never a need for cyber-bullying, especially on Julius's birthday.  We should be gallant and exuberant, not unkind and vindictive.

Sorry Galted. I am a Man of the North. Being unkind and vindictive is a lifestyle choice. We don't do birthdays either, we just nod at each other in the street and carry on walking our whippets to the working mens club.

But I don't want to upset you on Jules's birthday, so I'll retract the comment about your tiny tic.

Thanks, Tino, you're a real pal.

And, in case I haven't mentioned it, happy Julius's birthday to you.

Happy Birthday Jules... have a great day!

Your chauffeur has probably already parked the car (using Galted's 'missing' parking permit) and you're just about to walk up to the intercom at the apartment. So I won't interrupt you with anymore posts involving you today.

L*l out loud.

P*l should be the 606 equivalent of n****r from The Wire.  Instead of the N*****r Marlo and the N****r Cheese, we have P*l Joey and P*l Tino.

This could be the last ever post from the British-based contingent as apparently we're all going to die next week when the temperature hits 40C.

That's right. We're all going to do a collective Captain Scott in reverse and die of the heat.

For God's sake look after our people.

Apparently the migrant boats are all turning round and heading back to France.

It was eerily impressive, like a lone wolf howling in the wilderness.

Looks like the BBC are backtracking over their wild weather predictions. The max for Greenwich today has dropped from 40 to 37 without even an apology. It would never have happened if Boris Johnson were Prime Minister.
