Jimmy Young ruined Ali and Forman,

The title says it all. After Ali and Forman met Jimmy their careers were over. Young was a very slick, well schooled fighter but not a big puncher yet he put the nail into the coffin of two of boxings greatest heavies.

He was a rudey poo DJ though, used as a warm up for Terry Wogan

Not sure Young ruined Foreman, think Ali did a good job at that.

Care to elaborate? You don't actualy believe that but i'll humour you..

Note sure a defense first, light punching small heavy ruined anyones career let alone 2 of the best heavys ever. Great win against Foreman and he was very unlucky against Ali but lets face it, it was a past it, out of shape shadow of the great man he was facing. At 34 years old and after many tough nights including the Frasier triology Ali was unfortunately already ruined.

As mentioned above it was a mixture of himeslf and Ali that burst Foreman's bubble.

While certainly true that Ali came out of the Young fight with zero credibility, it's also fair to remember that Young didn't fare much better, either. The fight was an absolute shocker which stank the arena out.

My take is that anything Ali did after Manila bordered on the farcical and was a hideous parody of a great man and a great career. Dunn ? Evangelista ? Coopman ? That ridiculous, shambolic affair with the Japanese wrestler ? The gift in Norton III ?

If ever I were persuaded to swap my top two heavies around and have Louis pipping Ali it would be on the basis of Ali's post Manila career which either cheapened his greatness or came perilously close to it. With every respect to ONETWO and his article I don't see that Jimmy Young played a seminal part in that.

The Thrilla In Manila ruined Ali, far too much of a brutal fight for any man to come out of it the same as he was before. Although Ali was already on his way down the hill even before that. All Young did was show that Ali was a shadow of his former self, but he certainly didn't ruin him.
