The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great current hookers pictures on the bar. We've got Tincu, Ledesma, Ford, Best, Thompson and Bennett all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I'll take that as a compliment Micky.
A guy who I have made good friends with over the summer has his leaving do tonight (he's going to London for a masters). I know this is university life and the turnover is high but he has been an important friend to me.
He will be back often enough due to having a girlfriend up here but it's still a little weird.

Ah brilliant. I’ve found a way to get all of the TV shows I have downloaded sorted and ordered by some nifty software.
Now instead of double clicking them in windows explorer to play them they’ll be laid out in a lickable menu with proper DVD art in the background, proper episode names, proper summary of each episode etc.
It’s the little things in life…

I will do. I think I said it on a similar discussion before but it's something I've struggled with in the past but just need to get past that little bit.

Tech savy people - is it worth buying box sets of DVDs or will they be obsolete like Video Cassettes are now.
Munsty I feel for you. I've had a serious amount of that in the last 12 months. Really only made my peace with it all this summer.

Letters? Pfft! Just write your message on a piece of paper, take a photo of yourself holding it and text him the photo.

Or carrier pidgeons. How would you react if this pigeon wearing goggles and carrying a satchel chased you all over trying to deliver a letter.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yeh Stag, I was over the UK for a band competition last weekend is all.
we finished our two year program with a competition in stafford.
spent in total about 19 hours of the weekend on buses, 6.5 hours on buses.
about 7 hours in service station stop off areas (which are excellent by the by)
and the rest on the floor of a crummy hall. And yet it was just a perfect weekend to send off members that are leaving and as well as the show we have been slaving over.

Mate, I haven’t bought a DVD in ages, I download everything.
You can pick up a media center for about 100 quid, store all the stuff you’ve downloaded on it and play it through your TV in HD quality.
I’m going down a slightly more elaborate route and buying a PC to use exclusively on the TV, it has media software on it so you browse your media library on the screen rather than on your bookshelf at home. And it looks pretty gorgeous!
Check it out:

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Munsty, when I got back from Ghana basically all my friends had gone. Cork, Dublin and UK. I had barely any of my close friends left about and I was just literally doing nothing. I eventually made a point of actively making an effort to meet with them and realised its not that hard to keep in touch.
Now I know I am more busy between my job, my uni and the time I want to spend refereeing. I'm very conscious about making the time to keep in touch and because I have to be time conscious its easier to appreciate when I see them.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Stag - good on you I say. I'm finding it really difficult to do at the minute, have done since Uni really. All of my friends are dotted all over the UK or abroad, and a lot of the people who lived in Cardiff when I first moved here have gone as well. I really need to start putting the effort in more to meet up and keep in touch. It doesn't take much, I can't understand why sometimes I find it so difficult.
Munsty - nope sorry, I've not read that book.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
To be fair Dreamer, it does actually take much when you're busy. But its worth it and its a way of relaxing.
For example next weekend; I'll finish work at 5.30, then get the train from Limerick to Dublin, have a beer and a pizza with my friend living up there. Saturday morning I'll go to university and head back down to Limerick as my friend from the UK is over for his brothers birthday. I've already rang the Munster Referees Association to say I can't referee that weekend.
Its a lot of effort but all worth it. Thats making time for two friends I don't usually see when it would be easier but less enjoyable to only committ to seeing one of them.

I'm about half way through it and even though it might be different once I've finished it, it is one of the best best books I've ever read. Anyone interested in Irish history or wanting to gain an understanding will love it.

Bikkies,
Isn't that a bit...unsanitary...?
And unpleasant?
Having to lick the screen an all like!
On the subject of DVDs becoming obselete.
I help with reading at my kids primary school and today the story mentioned a Video player.
The kids laughed!

I am annoyed in a way that some of my best videos became obsolete once of the video recorder went and the DVD came in. But hey, life is always moving.

Yea it is a pain isn't it Munsty. Thats what always has me reluctant to buy box sets; that rather than having them for years I'll get at most a decade out of them before its all digital.

I have friends headed out tonight. I'm gonna take it easy, cook something nice and watch a movie with herself.
