The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great current hookers pictures on the bar. We've got Tincu, Ledesma, Ford, Best, Thompson and Bennett all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Tomorrow just got more difficult for Ulster.
That halyon Lulala and his "no arm" fouls have damaged iHumph and we will be playing with the 19 year old Paddy Jackson at 10.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Totally disagree there Cymro.
19 is still underage in rugby terms.
Physically lads have still a lot of "filling out" to do at that stage.
I firmly believe young Jackson will be up to it just think he's still go some developing to do yet.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
big ask for him MrsP, your back row will need to give him as much protection as possible, a big learning curve, good luck to him
aha just been on SG. In the permier league one, of all 7 matches played so far this weekend I've predicted all the winners correctly and got 3 results spot on, am now in the top 10% globaly! I've no doubt all that good work will be undone by the results in tomorrow's games

How will they get experience if they don't play now ? He will never get game time when the established stars return.

It will Dreamer, especially with no Ruan Pienaar there to take some of the pressure off him.
Talented young lad though so I hope tomorrow adds to his experience in a good way!
Soooo.... should I ask what scores you have predicted in the games tomorrow since you seem to possess some seer like skills just now?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Will be a tough game for him there, but Ulster have a pack that should be good enough to offer him some protection though. They will have to work their socks off for it, but it's a game that Ulster are capable of winning even with a 19 year old at 10.

MrsP - my skills seem only to work in the football! although I'm having a good time predicting the Jeff as well at the moment after a truly disastrous start to that.
I have the O's to win by 8,Samoa to win by 8 and Scotland by 5 and good wins for both Ireland and Wales. I expect I shall be wrong with a couple of them though.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Right let me put it this way then... If a academy product cant hold his own when he is 19 years old then he has not reached the standard required.
He is old enough to play his age should not be a issue.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Because it gives them game time there are several players under 19 who have been full internationals.

I'm not saying it is not possible for a 19 year old to manage at this level, clearly it is as many have done but I can't agree that that everyone will have reached their potential while still a teenager!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Cymro - Priestland at 19 was no where near the finished article and he looked completely out of place even at regional level (if he even played at that level at that age which I don't think he did). The same could have been said of him even last season. It's taken him until he's 24 to really come into his own, gain the necessary experience and build up the confidence to shine. Now he's slipped in seamlessly to play international rugby.
at 19 you'd never have said it, you probably wouldn't have said he'd ever be international standard. 19yr olds are not the finished article and people mature at different rates. It's ridiculous imo to say if they aren't good enough at 19 then they'll never make it. Some players need more nurturing then others.

Munster won!!!!
That's only because you had an Irish ref!!!
This was the "club" guys as opposed to the "Schools" lads wasn't it?
Does anyone know how the other age group sides got on at the weekend?

A few for both teams. Ulster had a lock that impressed me. An unglamourous workhorse who.contributed to a number of turnovers. Incredible backline foing forward. Seriously good.

Except Ulster lost
Also there was one particular player for Ulster who did well. However coaches said he cant tackle and isnt passionate about the team.

A lock forward
We haven't had a decent lock come through in years. Not much you can learn from U18s though. You never know how these kids are going tp develop or even if they want to pursue rugby as a career.

Question for the Cardiff based regs. What is parking like near to the CCS and what is traffic like getting from the M4 to the city centre on a Friday evening?

No MrsP. I think the local team have played there once or twice, but it's not home to any football team.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Pete - there is parking at the CCS although it can take ages to get out when the match is over. Most of the side streets are permit holders only although not all of them are and the supermarket next door have sussed that some fans park there, so I wouldn't risk that. Traffic isn't too bad to the CCS because it's just off the link road - off Junction 33 on the M4 so you can avoid the city centre altogether.

Ah you should be fine. I would say park outside my house cause I'm down the road, but I don't have a visitors permit anymore.

Might cost up the train and/or see if the supporters club is running a coach (they normally do).

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
A supporters coach would probably be better because it's door to door, and you'd have a good laugh on there travelling with others. You can walk to the CCS, but it's a bit of a walk from the train station. About £4 or so in a taxi.

Hmm, interception pass thrown but Scarlets had the penalty advantage! Just as well because that was a shocker of a pass to throw- but then I suppose teams do go for the risky play with the advantage called.
