Austin & Punk feud on Twitter

Nexus leader CM Punk and WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin had a strong exchange of words on Twitter on Wednesday, with Punk challenging Austin to a fight.

It all started when Paul Heyman's site Heyman Hustle site posted a fantasy matchup between Austin and Punk as part of their promotion of the WWE All Stars video game.

In a followup to the story, Punk tweeted the following:

"I like how THQ acts like they don't know what would happen if @steveaustinBSR and I were to lock horns. Everybody knows. SXE > Beer."

Punk followed up with: GTS > stunner.

Within 3 minutes, Punk's tweet earned over a hundred re-tweets. It was trending throughout North America within two hours. It trended globally this morning.

Austin replied to punk - and says he's got a can a whoop ass with Punk's name on it:

@CMPunk alright Punk...you just crossed the line...i'll be seeing your ass in Atlanta.

@CMPunk Alright son...I'm about to get off this treadmill and RUN to Atlanta..bringing some extra cans of Whoop Ass!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

@CMPunk What are you doing son, asking for advice/lessons etc.? I'll give your pierced lipped ass a couple lessons when I see you. Out.

The Heyman Hustle site also posted gallery of pictures featuring the fantasy matchup of Austin vs. Punk that started this whole business.

"I was in the back looking through my bag for something and I found a can of whoop ass and it had CM Punk's name on it!"

"PUNK & AUSTIN! PUNK & AUSTIN! IT HAS HIT THE FAN!"

Twitter wars are awesome.

With the two legends from the Attitude era apparently taking more of an active role at present, and especially with it looking increasingly likely that the Rock will return to the ring for a few matches the one person I’d love them to get involved in a proper trash talking session is Punk.

Austin would have been put to far better use if he was involved in the Punk-Orton feud rather than being randomly inserted as ref into the Cole-Lawler match, which didn't need him anyway.

I think it would have made for some great TV and epic promos to have Austin going back and forth with Punk and Orton. It could have finally turned Orton into a relevant character again, and I think Punk would have established himself even more as the best heel in the company.

That would be superb television Hero, Punk's a guy who'd be more than able to match those two on the mic.

I'd rather have seen Austin used as an outside enforcer to stop anyone getting involved in Punk/Orton

Yeah they could have dispensed with the whole 'Nexus banned from ringside' angle and just stuck Stone Cold outside the ring. Would have helped Orton too to pick up a few tips on how to connect with the fans as a badass babyface.

Does anyone else think it's brilliant and sorry for going off topic but when Punk sits down to start his Promos? And how he keeps calling Orton Randall? Lol

I've noticed but not really been taken with it, its just what he was doing with the SES

I love punks mic work. the rumble last year is one of my favourite moments when he did his surmon during the match.

I think it should be forever remembered as the "sermon on the mat"

Punk is a great heel .... orton should be traded to smackdown and should go back to being a heel

as much as i love punk and as great as his work has been for wwe i still get the feeling that vince doesnt like his attitude. after all hes only been on the main roster for what 5 years and has only been main eventing since 2008/09 but has the cockyness and confidence of that of a veteran.

i could only see him being well and truely buried should a fued happen
