they have all of the matches on the dvd including the matches benoit was in. They get rid of his entrance and they mute the commentary when he is involved ïn the footage.

Is it weird to watch in that context? Almost sounds like it makes his presence more noticeable if the commentators fall silent every time he's involved!

That must be weird as hell to watch. How far do they go with muting the commentary? Is it a case of ".......... with a diving headbutt off the top of the ladder!" or do they have complete silence until he's not involved in the action?

Seemingly WWE are bringing out a DVD of all Shawn Michaels' Wrestlemania matches as well so it'll be interesting to see what happens with the match at Wrestlemania 20 seeing as there is plenty of focus on Benoit in that match.

Even with all the muting, this is a major step that they are taking here.

I think it would have been better if they had digitally replaced Benoit with a different wrestler, and inserted that wrestler's name over the top of his in the commentary.

"Heidenreich, the rabid wolverine, showing his trademark toothless aggression there. Is there a better technical wrestler in this industry, King? Trained in the famous Hart Dungeon, nobody in that locker room is respected more than Heidenreich. Good god almighty what a flying headbutt" etc.

WWE representatives recently contacted WrestlingDVDNews.com and informed them that the WrestleMania 20 triple threat with Michaels vs. Triple H vs. Chris Benoit will not be included in the set. All of Shawn's 16 other WrestleMania matches will be featured along with new interview footage with Shawn.

Looks like the step forward the took with the MITB dvd has been undone by this move.
I also found this about Benoit's condition -

The condition – which would have proved fatal – is ominously similar to that of the late great Eddie Guerrero who died less than two year earlier, just hours before a live show that would see him win back the company’s top title.
