Tonight's action- thread
First topic message reminder :
Evening guys,
I'm stuck at work and the internet's so slow here I can't get a stream to work for tonights action. Any chance we can get a live round by round thread going, particularly interested in Skeete-Gavin and Saunders-Eubank.
Cheers!

It amazes me how many people have double standards on here. Everyone criticised Haye in his attempt against Wlad....Chisora is doing the exact same thing here, only difference being he is willing to walk forward and put his face into a glove....because of that people are willing to laud over Tyson's performance..give me a break. This is a guy Haye took out in 5! Another bit of irony...everyone moans how boring Wlad is for heavyweight division...yet Tyson is carrying someone he should have had out of there and its 'oh its good footwork, nice jab, good shot selection'! Absolute garbage!
Wladimir is far more gifted than Fury, hence why his cautiosness i more frustrating.
True; but then again it's not like Fury has someone coming at him swinging...Given how times he has jabbed Chisora he should be set up for a KO by now. Look at the size of Fury...if he had world class power Chisora would have been out of there couple of rounds ago.
I'm not saying Joshua is the 2nd coming but his jab is much harder, much sharper (actually thrown properly) and he sets out to hurt his opponents.
Alex - 'Everyone' was perhaps a sweeping generalisation...however there are plenty who would criticise that but then declare this performance great from Fury without recognising how poor Chisora was. Also - 2k15 on xbox one or ps4 or neither?
Right, he isn't gifted with world class power or general athleticism like Wlad so he isn't as well placed to force it. Joshua would set out to hurt and finish, whereas Fury has set out to out box and pepper, because massive power isn't his thing, he's fighting like he knows that.
F%$^in hell am I sticking up for Fury??

Ha ha ha...A "Shell" of Chisora...
Makes it sound like he was good once.

The only explanation is that he's shot, this is a guy who was for the most marching forward throwing punches taking heavy shots from Haye, Vitali and Helenius but seemed done against the non existent power of Fury.

No he really doesn't, Helenius was a darn sight better than Fury when he fought Chis and possessed genuine power before the shoulder injury.

Well, one good fight all night that was quite scrappy in itself... Rest was pretty poo. Skeete/Gavin was quite good, but very slow.

The problem with Frank Warren cards is that nobody stands out as world level fighter, Degale dismantling Periban was more interesting than any of the fights tonight because he has undoubted talent.

Very disappointing with Eubank Jr. tonight. The talent is evident but he wasn't quite ready tonight. The first 4 rounds were given away, he didn't even make BJS work. Credit to BJs, executed a game plan and followed orders well. Senor is hurting his son's career. God scrap.
As for Chisora. Utterly shot.

Overall let down by these last 2 weeks of British boxing.
TalkSport talking like BJS v Eubank Jnr was Hagler v Hearns.

I reckon if they'd developed JR. properly, and not fed him 18 complete stiffs that he would have had a decent shot at winning last night, if he'd had at least one fight to get him through a little bit of adversity he would have dealt with the beginning a little better. He clearly learned a lot throughout the fight.

Colin Murray's summary of it all was cringeworthy. Wembley Stadium! God...

I for one would like to give fury the slightest bit if credit. Showed he could box to a plan against a fighter who , like it it not, has been mixing at world level on occasion. Fair play.
I would definatley pay to watch him fight klitscho, wouldn't last long IMO but well worth a watch

Eubank would definitely have won with better prep in terms of opponents. Gave away a third of the fight doing nothing at all. Ah well. Can do it again when BJS is WBO alpha champ

Eubank v Saunders was better than anything on last weeks card.
Neither card was great though.

Eubank Vs. Saunders was good, but in general the Matchroom card was marginally better in terms of excitement, but the Eubank Vs Saunders fight edged the Warren card out, but let's be honest. Both were rather poo to say they were two of the biggest British cards of the year....

Re: Tonight's action- thread
Chisora is definitely done. He may never have been all that but he wasn't as hopeless as he looked tonight. Re fury, well people will slate him as usual, and yes he flick jabbed his way to the win, but it was extremely effective.
The sad fact is, that fury is harder to fight Against than people will allow themselves to admit and that exaggerated how bad Chis was. Tonight in the early rounds fury's shot selection was excellent.... Admittedly against a human punchbag, but still it was impressive in my view, if not pretty.
Yep he most likely gets sparked by wlad, but I think he beats the rest of them. May not be saying much given the state of the division, but everyone applauded wlad, quite rightly, for dismantling pulev... Who was less mobile and frankly just as crap as chisora.
I'm on the fury hype train. I believe brothers.
... But then I have been on the sauce.

It's about levels Strongy, Eubank and Saunders on tonights showing aren't from the top drawer so you can expect a more exciting fight. You take someone like Groves or Degale and their class will show in the end.

Re: Tonight's action- thread
I vastly preferred this card to the matchroom one. Saunders v Eubank Jr was close, and there was some quality and athleticism on display from both sides. There were no fights like that on the Bellew/Cleverly card. Gavin Skeete was as expected wasn't it? Was anybody expecting warfare? You can never have seen them fight if so. They showed good boxing, it was close, competitive. I'd take that over Degale bowling over a tubby fella any day.
Main event was seriously disappointing, I agree with that, but on paper the top three were ALL competitive match ups. And two of them fulfilled that idea. I can't complain, nobody's fault Chisora's shot, pressure fighters often have short careers, especially when they're fed to the wolves early.

Right on, off the top of my head he gets my vote for best trainer about right now.
Velez' trainer's pedigree ain't bad, being GGG's trainer. However I feel like I could be GGG's trainer and he'd still be pretty formidable, and watch more Beavis and Butthead.

Gradovich getting closer, but Velez keeping it at range still, but Gradovich making it more and more his kind of fight. Pretty decent so far, still reckon Selby has the beating of both. Selby's mandatory for the winner by the way.

I find fights like this so irritating. Plenty of leather thrown, but you just know neither guy can knock the other out. The suspense of high stakes when you have big punchers/weak chins is not there.
