First topic message reminder :

Now the season is over, the rumours begin!

Milner/Ings to Liverpool seems likely.
Benitez to Real Madrid, Bale staying.
Falcao is desperate to move to Chelsea.
Otamendi and Dani Alves to Manchester United.
Raheem Sterling to Arsenal

What else?

Firmino is a great capture for Liverpool, I was excited when the rumours were abound he was coming to Utd (although we didn't need another player in that position). Certainly better than Sterling.

I'm just delighted we are getting all this work done so early in the window. Also nice to see that 2/4 signed so far are actually first team players!(Rather than these 5-7million type players we seem to buy who then get loaned out for 3 years and allowed to leave on a free after....)

Real madrid are interested in otamendi, fueling speculation that Ramos will fail in his bid to get a bigger contract and might actually end up at United

The transfer rumour is that united are preparing a €75m plus de gea, and then willing to offer Ramos £260k per week. If any of this turns out to be true, then you need look no further for evodence that the united transfer policy is run by idiots.

The same United transfer policy that waited until a £20m clause on Marouane Fellaini expired before signing him for £28m? I don't believe it!

Hope United sort them selves out.

Started well with early capture of depay but since then very little certain and lots of worrying rumours.

Ramos isn't great, we shouldn't be after him- never mind for huge money.

not seen much of firmino so cant comment much, but i was abit dubious when we were linked. the majority of Brazilians have flopped in the prem so for 29mil its a big risk. think its a sign that sterling is on his way out

cant understand the ramos signing, im hoping its just his agent throwing our name out so he gets a better contract at madrid. never thought madrid have looked good defensively and he's been the main stay in their defence. his art of defending is kicking people, as his disciplinary record shows. if were throwing money at madrid for a cb would prefer varane who's younger, much quicker and would have time to adapt and fit in

As a real madrid fan I rate Varane as tge better defender than Ramos. If there was a choice which I'd rather keep Varane would win everytime. Real madrid are supposedly only offering hom €7 mill but United offered €12mill.

Firmino looks like another kagawa to me.

The Ramos link baffles me as he is 29, a rubbish defender and has no discipline what so ever.

I read United fans moaning about spending £12m on Firmino, saying he's not experienced enough, unproven at a high level. Now Liverpool spend £29m and everyone says he's great? I don't buy it.

Payet to West ham is official : 5 +1 years contract, 15M€ transfer. seems a quite long contract for a 28 yo good-ish forward that might not cut it in the EPL.

LVG going for experienced winners because he can't afford another trophyless season & he's only got two years left himself before retirement. No point buying for the future anymore, that he won't be a part of. He won't care blowing United's finances on old players, all he cares about is winning as much as possible & making sure his stint at United is seen as a success, before he leaves Giggs to pick up the pieces.

As for Austin, nobody is touching him which is a statement. One season wonder?

I also don't get that Payet deal at 15m euros, quite surprising.

Seen quite a lot of Ligue 1 in recent years, given we buy in bulk from there & I can safely say West Ham fans, that Payet is on another level to Matty Jarvis. It's only Ligue 1, but Payet is a quality player, good final ball too, which has seen him with impressive assist stats. Good signing, even at 28.

Cos Sunderland are not fussed over the loan fee, whereas we're annoyed that they're charging £2m just for another season on loan.

The board will of course let LVG do whatever he wants and won't have an eye on the future themselves, they'll happily authorise spending millions on old players just for short term gain won't they?

I'm not so sure, I feel like he tried the expensive experienced thing at the beginning of last season and it didn't really work for him. His strength has always been young players.

Don't think that's really an option anyway, why would he come from a rich team who are playing in the Champions League to Newcastle in it's current state  Crying or Very sad

Austin would be a decent signing, should really motivate him with the chance to become a regular in the England squad too.

As soon as I say Jenks will be ours the old ITKs on the West Ham site reckon we will not go into business with Arsenal unless we can get a future fee put in.

Salah and Michu also linked. Id love both, Salah more than anyone though.

More random rumours show us looking at Spurs' Dembele and PSV's Wijnaldum

He could get in the French team if he can force the move to Sevilla, only problem is they offered 3 million as opposed to the 10+ Stoke are looking for. Leicester he has no chance of a callup.

Arda Turan wants to move to England

“His intention is to leave Spain this summer,” Turan’s agent Ahmet Bulut told the Spanish sports newspaper AS. “His will is to leave and to play in the Premier League, that is the path he would like to take to continue his career.

“We are currently in talks with three teams but I cannot reveal the names of the clubs. However, I can tell you that they are the best in England and in European football.”

We've bid £35 million for Ramos apparently.

Waste of money, we've already got loads of defenders who can't defend.

And yet Ramos would be better than all of them. You should be buying Hummels but as it appears the lad has zero ambition - honestly, why stay at Dortmund - then Ramos is the next best available CB. Great signing if it happens. Plus he can play DM too...

No he can't, he was terrible at cm.

He basically has no defending to do for most of the season, can't do it or gets sent off when asked to do it.

Ramos would walk into your team and to say he can't defend is laughable. I would be surprised and gutted if he went to Man U.

It's called loyalty and BVB have more success in Europe and just as much domestically as United in recent years. Did the United players have no ambition when they were completely out of Europe last season by staying put?..

Ramos is a better defender than Smalling, Jones, Evans, Rafael, Valencia, Young, Rojo or Blind. Better than Blackett, McNair, Carrick at CB. He's a world class CB, can play RB too, has won a world cup, two Euros, countless domestic titles, 128 caps, and been the bedrock of two all-time great sides. Quite how you think he's not good enough for your poke of a club, I'll never work out. There's a reason he's been successful in his career, and it's not luck. Fabio Coentrao can't defend, and it's painfully obvious. Ramos is excellent and reads the game like a top player.

Well his reading of the game would be his weakest attribute...

An athlete and a very reactive player, who had extremely little defending to do in those great sides and when it comes to it does it badly - loses his temper and gets sent off.

He hasn't played right back in years either.

He has 188 yellow cards and a shocking 19 red cards in his career.

Madrid would pay him the money if he was a great player.

12.5 million for clyne accepted from Liverpool apparently.

Don't rate him as much as others but for that price we should be in on it.

He reads the game well, he's had two poor full backs for years alongside him. He can play RB and DM, which gives you the flexibility LVG craves. And his disciplinary record looks great to me, he's a heart and soul player who gets stuck in and leads by example. Think Roy Keane but much better looking.

£35 million for Ramos, a wholly woeful 'defender'. Laugh

Makes the Carroll signing for the same price look astute!
