Wimbledon Day 5
First topic message reminder :
Good Morning Tennis Fans,
I am glad to report we have some 606V2 posters in the crowds today.
British interest with Murray, Robson and Baltacha all in action as well as defending champion Nadal.
Bring it on. The sun is out, so rain, what rain?

Re: Wimbledon Day 5
Not quite for Robson. 7-6 6-3 in the end for Sharapova.
Don't think Laura could have played much better - a bit more experience of playing such a strong opponent would have helped, and could have been the difference in the first set.
Very encouraging, and also motivation to work on the weaknesses (a little bit of work on speed and on having a plan in addition to hitting hard) so that she can compete at this high level.
I hope Laura gets a few more chances in top level events - from what I've seen she looks to be a better player against top quality players than against journey(wo)men (which has to be a motivation issue), so it might take a while for her to climb the rankings.

Fe-Lo has broken Roddick to go 3-2 up in the 3rd set.
Roddick has only come back from 2-0 twice in his career and not since 2005!

Re: Wimbledon Day 5
Roddick gone, straight sets defeat to F-Lo (2 TBs and one break in the third).
Tough match up in the third - Lopez has had a couple of good runs at Wimby in the past.
Potentially good news for Murray though - Roddick was the guy seeded to meet him in the QF.

The groaning between Martinez and Williams makes the match almost unbearable to watch.

Nadal has started, Muller serving well so far, leads 3-2 in the opening set.

You can't deny it, but Nadal's serve never lets him down in tight situations.

Unlucky for Wimbledon there. I live less than a mile from Centre court but not a single drop of rain fell where I am.

I wonder if they will move Nadal's match over if the upcoming Murray match is over in 3?

I don't think they are allowed to do that cause that's taking away value from court 1 ticket holders.

Though they won't be offering refunds, I know Queens the swines don't on rain delays. I would be amazed if play resumed on the outer courts.

Re: Wimbledon Day 5
Brilliant from Murray! Thought he'd blown his chance when he got broken after squandering a few break points, but he responds in magnificent fashion to take the next three games and the first set 6-4.

Murray needs desperately to up his first serve percentage here, he'll get chances on Ljubicic's serve as he's returning pretty well, but he needs to get those first serve in...

Re: Wimbledon Day 5
If Murray could take the attitude he's had in the last couple of games all the time, he'd be such a better player. Brilliant stuff and he leads 3-0 at the start of the third.

Murray suddenly bouncing, Ljubicic looks a little lost, trade of forehands, Ljubicic into the net. Murray 4-0 and cruising
