I spoke to soon. out for a friends birthday in Bristol last night and bang on 10 o clock it all kicked off. stores being smashed up and set on fire. Police really should be able to use force.

they just stood there and took it and this inflamed the situation. it must have been so frustrating being a copper there. I really believe a bit of force would have completely cured the situation.

Looting down my street last night. There were two policemen keeping a distance. Asked them whethere any more were coming, they said don't know, no-one knows, we haven't got enough poilce.

2 hours later riot police came to clear the looters, by then all the shops were empty.

Hi guys,

Will be posting the format for everyones sides for match threads on your squad pages. If you use the quote button on my comment you will see the coding behind the format.
Some of us are already using the coding but can we all try and use this on a weekly basis please. Will make updating match threads a much faster job thumbsup
If your not sure on the coding take a copy of it to your squad page maybe and have a few test runs at naming a side to get used to the coding.

Could be. Although if you saw Gibson and Gray in the smae back row you could think you could get to them. All the potential in the world but can't replace experience at times.

For me Gibson's best position is at 6, although I can see Irish using him at 7 this season due to a lack of options there.

What I'd like to see is

6. Gibson
7. Experienced natural openside
8. Gray

Someone like Martyn Williams could have been ideal for a season. Gutted we lost Steffon as that would have been an exciting backrow.

Agree with Steven that i dont think you could get away with Gray and Gibson together. especially when the rain comes down.

Gibson for me is a real talent. i have never watched him and not been impressed. He looks a 6 rather than a 7 though. Think gray will be used off the bench this year

What i like about gibson is his intelligence. he is always in the right place and is a great worker.

Also carries quite well. I have been hoping gloucester would be in for him. I think he has potential to play for england.

Leicester cooled as Gray was asking too much, bit of Bulk and he'll be some player. He's very much in the Harinordoquy mould albeit slightly not at that standard lol. Big big things were expected of him at Falcons, sad to see him go.

So Newcastle continue their scheme to provide every club in England with one of their academy prospects...unbelievable to think of all the talent they have let go over the years.

Think Gray is a cracking prospect.

Cant wait for the start of the season, been trying to work out what teams will do well - think Sarries could build up a huge lead, wont they only lose Stevens to England? Cant think of many other internationals they will lose.

Burger, Wigglesworth(?), Wyles, Botha(?)

They have pretty good backups in these positions though, should be very strong. Them and Falcons to dominate I reckon....erm

I've got a feeling England will only take Care and Youngs, rely on Foden for WC - that way you free up another centre to travel because that is where England are weakest and might need the options.

Botha wont go after Shaw's performance at the weekend - think he will only travel if one of th elocks gets injured.

Foden wouldnt ever have to play there though Steven - if Care of Youngs got injured and left the squad then they can call up a replacement. Just going by what Johnson is thinking as a WC you really need to make sure you've got enough cover in the weak spots.

Anyone got a list of the 2003 WC squad, would be very interested in seeing that and how Woodward made up his 30 - reckon Johnson will follow closely in terms of make up

I'm not sure if that's right Chris, surely the whole point of a squad is to cover all circumstances. If Youngs got injured, Care would start. If Care got injured 2 mins in Foden would have to play 9 if no other available.

I imagine 3 hooks and 3 SH's to be selected

Has to be 3 hooks and 9's.

Say Youngs is injured for 2 weeks. We wouldnt want to call a replacement as then he couldn't play when he was fit again and we wouldn't have adequate cover.

England WC squad in 2003 - did have 3 no9s in it - Bracken, Dawson and Gomarsall - do you think Wigglesworth is ahead of Simpson.

Guess that will depend on who makes the team against Wales on Saturday - would love Simpson to play, he could be such a menace on the bench and could do a lot of damage against the lower ranked teams, which could be crucial if the end table comes down to tries scored.

Diamond says he was unlucky to not go to the world cup, I don't know whether that's true or not but could be an astute piece of business

He was absolutely msutard in what was a fairly average comp. I sadly watched a few highlight shows on the vodacom cup and the Fb and wing looked really good attacking wise.

Chris, if that is true, then it says to me that Sheridan may well not be fit for the World Cup. I can think of no ther reason for looking at Wilson at loosehead, when in the current squad there are 4 players who are better at loosehead than him in Sheridan, Corbs, Payne and Stevens.
