Post by sodhat Tue 16 Aug 2011, 10:54 am

First topic message reminder :

Just a note (pinched directly from Wikipedia regarding the 2012 installment of FM. I am desperate to get a hold of this and start playing, I missed 2011 out but I fully intend to get back on this social life-sapping horse.

The next in the series of the Football Manager simulation game is set to be the 19th game released and is reported to include 800+ improvements. The new changes (of which only a few have been announced so far) include an improved 3D Match Engine, a new manager team talk system called "Tone" which will enhance your personality in the game and a different way to select the nations involved in your player database which now means that you can add or remove nations as you play.

The final version though, is yet to be finished as it will need the Summer Transfers within the game and some parts just need "finishing off".

More information from press releases is expected to come out in Autumn 2011 and the game is to come out before Christmas, but if the development stays on course it will be released (like previous versions in the series) in late October to early November 2011. A handheld version is also widely expected, but hasn't been officially announced as yet.

Is that Jay Rodriguez? He's a goal scoring machine on FM12 (or so I've heard given I'm still on FM09 because that's how I role). Try and get Yaya Sanogo and/or Khouma Babacar Olly.

---

Hodge, yeah its watching my youngsters come good time atm. Had my eye on Ogren for a while (He was at Atlanta), suddenly Madrid/Barce/Milan etc all took an interest so I had to swoop quickly. £4.5million up front + £20million once he had played 20 league games for us. Given that 10 months later he is the best CB in the game that seamed like a good bit of business. The money side is the only problem at sunderland, Neil Quinn (bless him) likes to give me about £20-35 million per season to spend which I add to by selling any youngsters that won't reach where they should/old guys who my youngsters are now better than. Compare that to Arsenal (Managed by Raul!) who this season alone spent £125million, plus another £250million since the game began! City have spent about £400 million since the beginning and have won nothing, on their 6th manager now.

Managers:
Chelsea - Mancini
Arsenal - Raul
United - Guardiola
City - Laurent Blanc
Barce - Rijkaard
Madrid - Ramos
AC Milan - Vacant
Inter - Mourinho (AVB is just a coach under him)
Juve - Zola

Have a look at:

Spoiler:

Both very good fm blogs with plenty of advice on wonderkids/regens etc. Especially True, every year he does a full storyline + wonderkids + good players for lower leagues.

Babacar is a beast especially in the championship early on, Jay is just a beast. Has he made the England side yet? If not he will.

He made the squad for a friendly but I withdrew him and he is unavailable now! I'm a harsh Bar Steward when it comes to internationals, don't want my players getting injured in a pointless friendly

Ok so my time at Huddersfield was a disaster, the tactics which have been succesful previously weren't and we leaked goals forcing me to resign. Moved to Wrexham in the BSP and signed Scott Boden from Chesterfield for £9k.

Sunderland went all of December without conceding a goal! Furthermore we're now unbeaten in 56 matches in the league!

In my Southampton season I went nine games without conceding a goal and needed one more clean sheet for the achievement! It was 2-0 to me after 85 mins at home to Hull, then bloody Aaron McLean scored meaning I didn't get the achievement and probably never will furious

With my Norwich team I play 4-1-2-1-2 with a DM, RM, LM and CAM.

My Saints team I play simples 4-4-2.

I can never get the 4-2-3-1 to work with Norwich

Try out 4-2-2-1-1, 3-3-3-1 or 4-4-1-1 they always work well for me. I've got them below just because they sound odd.

4-2-2-1-1

---------GK----------
RB----CB---CB-----LB
------DCM-DCM------
RM-----------------LM
---------ACM---------
----------CF----------

3-3-3-1

---------GK----------
-----CB--CB--CB-----
RWB----DCM------LWB
----------------------
LAM------CAM-----RAM
----------CF----------

The 4-4-1-1 is standard 4-4-2 but with CAM instead of second striker. On all FM games I find that one CF works better than two and a DCM is essential.

Currently in 2017, managing Liverpool. Didn't have a great season last time out and missed out on CL qualification on the last day, but did manage to win the League Cup.

Current team is:

Reina
Johnson
Coates - scores 10 goals a season most seasons
Agger
Enrique
Lucas
Gerrard - about 80 years old now but still does a brilliant job
Weiss
Schurrle
Seydou Doumbia
Martin Naylor - regen, looks like an absolute star

Krul
Cristiano, a regen from Brazil
Flanagan
Witsel
Sterling
Tevez
Sanogo

Schurrle is an absolute beast, as is Lucas. Thinking of moving Johnson and Enrique on though, they do a good job but are the wrong side of 30 now.

Next season I will use those two formations as my back up formations and try and intergrate them in slowly thumbsup

In other eerie news, Grant Holt has handed in a transfer request to me on FM. Strange ghost

The bottom one (3-3-3-1) is very attacking and is based on having two full backs who try and get forward at every opportunity. Worked brilliantly on my Man City save with Mattock and Zhirkov bombing forward. The DCM has to be alert constantly. The top one is my sunderland one and having two quality dcm's basically mean that you have the best of both worlds both defensively and going forward. CAM is essential for both of them too, high creativity needed tho.

Gonna need to sign some players to make those formations work, and have some depth. I have Joe Allen as a CDM as well as a young star. Eriksen CAM offers great creativity! Clyne and Taylor wing backs will offer attacking intent

Wow! Look for young centre backs, regen centre backs are usually extremely good. DCM's that are cheap can include Mikel (yes him, he'll do well for a bit). Or maybe a young regen?

A "regen" is a player that the game has generated that doesn't actually exist in real life. Sometimes they have ridiculous ratings at a very young age.

I think it stands for REcently GENerated.

In my sunderland game a large portion of the squad is made up of these.

With the way my squad picks up injuries they might end up playing most of the season Laugh

I am at the point now where if a big club loses there manager I am going to go for a job there. I feel I have taken Norwich as far as I can without ruining the finances of the club. I feel like Lambert in real life Laugh

I have four games left in my first season, top with 90 points, Gateshead 6 behind. Scott Boden has scored 41 league goals so for a 19 year old that is awesome, brought in Saunders and Cummings from Bournemouth and Mike Edwards.

Reached the 3rd round of the FA Cup but lost to Sheffield UTD 1-0 despite having 2 goals disallowed! Put my reserves out in the FA Trophy so I could concentrate on the league, looks like League 2 here I come!

What season are you in? Are United still competing for the title every season?

Personally I would rather look at a team that have started falling away and make them successful again, to easy to take over a team that's already successful.

I have rejected them! I am now about to start the 2015/16 season, and United haven't won the title for 3 years and only just made the top 4 last season. But I am building up Norwich quite nicely, hoping to make a cup run and maybe a Euro Cup place this season. Plus United have a terrible squad and a small transfer budget!

It's weird how you always think you want a bigger job but when the opportunity comes around you don't actually want to go! It's like you have built a squad and want to see how that does, almost build a legacy at the club

Promoted with 104 points, was favourite for the Everton and Blackburn jobs but declined both to stay at Wrexham. In November top of league two and unbeaten in the league. Signed Matt Gill and Kevin Phillips on frees and brought in a few more youngsters. Boden currently has 22 league goals from 11 games!

Ezequiel Lavezzi - £28 million
Ganso - £32 million
Jack Rodwell - £35 million (in total) Shocked

Right now at 19 games through the season!

I am in second place on goal difference behind Chelsea. 44 points through 19 games ain't too bad! Just beat Man City 2-1 away. My form will run out soon though I feel, injuries haven't hit yet!

But then you never know Very Happy

I tried an interesting tack to make my game more interesting.

I was Sheffield Wednesday and had won promotion to the championship, saw them to top of the league after 5 games and then decided to resign to see what kind of job I could get.

After a couple of months was offered the Hearts job, they were 10th in the SPL and I've seen them to 6th having lost 1 game and am right in the midst for attacking the old firm.

seems pointless to edit the game and give yourself masses of money to be honest.

I think it stands for REcently GENerated.

In my sunderland game a large portion of the squad is made up of these.

It simply stands for regenerated, I believe.

I am in a game with Villa still, doing well, but getting a little bored and tempted to have a bash at the lower divisions.

the regen players are the way forward, get amazing players if you scout properly. my current real madrid first team in 2020 is made up of these apart from marcelo at lb. and thats only because im yet to find a quality enough replacement. the team is easily the best in the world. won the champions league last season and finished the league undefeated. currently england manager as well in euro 2020. in that team hart, jack robinson, kyle walker, wilshere and oxide are the only starters. rooneys on the bench having amassed 169 caps and 94 goals

compelling and rich
