Modric goes on strike - rumor

LUKA MODRIC went on strike yesterday as Chelsea lodged an official £30million bid for the wantaway Tottenham star.

Modric, 25, refused to travel for tonight's Premier League clash at Manchester United.

And the Spurs midfielder has told boss Harry Redknapp he has no intention of playing for the club again.

Redknapp had hoped Modric would be fit for Old Trafford after beating a minor groin injury.

Yet he claimed last night: "Someone has turned Luka's head. Luka will not be with us tomorrow.

"He has a bit of an injury he could have played through but his head's not in the right place at present. We need to get it all sorted out."

A Spurs insider admitted: "Luka is desperate to leave and join Chelsea.

"It is hard to see a way back for him, especially after he has refused to play in such a crucial match."

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will be furious at Modric's rebellion and may even try to force him to join the team today.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink... Levy is a joke believing a Spurs player would rather stay then join a team much more prestigious

Im all for transfers to bigger/better clubs, and £30m is a lot to turn down, but if Modric has gone on strike.....i would let him rot in the reserves and show him who is boss.

I would like to think he is not that type of player to be honest. If he has gone on strike, then that is the unltimate disrespect to Spurs, he made his name there, the least he could do was be proffesional, hand in a transfer request and play until something happens.

Oh and Josiah - Tottenham are a far more prestigious club than Chelsea - have been for many many years. Tottenham have a much richer history than Chelsea - whose own "history" effectively began in 2004

Just because Abramovich pumped hundreds of millions into the team to get a few League titles does not make them more prestigious.

And i personally think that if/when he does go he will regret it in a years time
