First topic message reminder :
Any of you guys looking foward to the start of the season next week, if you like college football, what teams do you like, I myself follow the wolverines and huskers. But only the huskers have an oppportunity for the big one this year. Cant wait for lsu v oregon on the 3rd at cowboys stadium.

Re: College Football
It will be interesting to see who wins the Heisman Trophy this year. Johnny Manziel has had off the field issues and has probably lost too many games. Mariota hasn't played well enough in recent weeks. Jameis Winston looked the most likely winner but has had his own off field issues. AJ McCarron could be the default winner while Bryce Petty has been a late name being mention

Crazy call to go for the FG, surely?! No way he makes a 57 yarder and with all the blockers on the pitch that was always on! Just take OT! Great to watch though!

Saban made some questionable calls throughout that fourth quarter. Still you don't really expect that to happen!!!

Regular season over, commence head coach merry-go-round: looks like Washington's Steve Sarkisian is going to USC. Makes sense considering he was an assistant there for a long time, but not exactly the spectacular hire a lot of people expected.

Matt Miller @nfldraftscout
Per the Univ. of Oregon, Marcus Mariota will return to school next season and not enter the NFL Draft. He’ll be my No. 1 prospect for 2015

Moves the likes of Mettenberger (think that's spelt right), and McCarron into first round contention if they weren't already...

Can see Mariota being another Locker situation, where he goes into the draft next year with a lot less hype even though he's better prepared to succeed in the NFL.

I hate AJ McCarron with a passion. No rational reason behind it but I'd be sick if he got drafted in the first.

And now Washington have managed to get Boise State's Chris Petersen to replace him. Lot of people thought he'd never leave that job, will be interesting to see how he does in a major conference.Lowlandbrit wrote:Washington's Steve Sarkisian is going to USC.

So it looks like Auburn vs FSU in the BCS Championship game. Can Jameis Winston win that and the Heisman? Or is he still carrying too much baggage?
Next year there will be college football playoffs.
Who goes no. 1 in the 2015 draft? Mariota or Winston?

Jameis Winston has won the Heisman trophy. AJ McCarron came a distant second, Jordan Lynch came third.
Texas coach Mack Brown is resigning after the bowl game against Oregon. Expect pretty much everyone to be linked with the position (Jim Harbaugh's already getting asked questions about it).

Auburn leading 21-10 in the BCS Championship game. Jameis Winston is struggling but he is very quick and his speed is getting him out of trouble. He looks nowhere near NFL ready yet but has talent. Should improve over next year or so in college. SEC defences look much strong than he has faced so far.

He definitely saved his best for last last night. Rest of his game was pretty average though and Auburn haven't got the of greatest defences. I think the key to FSU winning was the kick off TD return.Pr4wn wrote:Winston is clutch. Fantastic comeback.

Welp, that didn't last long: Oklahoma's Samaje Perine ran for 427 against Kansas. Got subbed out early in the 4th.crazy_dave23 wrote:Why College Football is a bit ridiculous... In other news, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech went to overtime after scoring a combined 0 points in four quarters (ended 6-3 Wake Forest in double overtime).

With Harbaugh blatantly checked out in San Francisco, and the Michigan job open, it's no wonder the rumours are bubbling away. Certainly makes sense in terms of background (and money), but it's hard to see him giving up without a ring if there's a somewhat attractive NFL offer out there.

The inaugural NCAAF playoffs take place tonight with Marcus Mariota's Oregon taking on Jameis Winston's FSU. Should be interesting to see how both players handle the pressure. The other games sees the no. 1 Alabama take on Ohio State.

It's why the draft is great. Didn't see all of the game last night, but Mariota gave me more reasons to be doubtful of absolute top level potential!

Re: College Football
So the no 4 seed Ohio State wins the inaugural college playoffs beating Marcus Mariota's Oregon Ducks 42-20.
I would like to see the college playoffs expanded further to 12 teams and mimic the NFL playoffs then play their championship game the week before the Super Bowl. That would give college football and the players a bigger platform and would be bigger 'start' of the draft season.

I reckon mimicking the NFL playoffs would just cause more problems because there would be a shed load of arguments about the rankings giving certain teams a first round bye
8 teams would be good though

Be interesting to see what Cardale Jones does now. The bloke's 22, got people excited about his potential, but he's only played three games. Does he declare for the draft or go back and try to complete to start against Miller and Barrett? Can't see him transferring and taking a year out at his age already.

Most people expect Braxton Miller to transfer, especially since he wouldn't have to sit out a year. FSU one of the schools that gets mentioned a lot.JDizzle wrote:Does he declare for the draft or go back and try to complete to start against Miller and Barrett?

Such a sensational troll from Cardale. Great work.
You know it's getting close to draft season when you begin to see the first, far too early mocks. Here's Daniel Jeremiah's: http://www.nfl.com/draft/2015/mock-drafts/daniel-jeremiah/215603

Leonard Fournette deserves a mention on this thread. He has looked fantastic this season at running back. He has run for over 150 yards in his five games, including three over 200 yards, and has 12 TDs. Looks an early favourite for the Heisman Trophy.

Looks like it's going to be a big moving season for FBS head coaches; still games to be played and 20 have already gone this year, including Georgia's Mark Richt (and apparently very nearly LSU's Les Miles).

Playoff games are set:
Clemson (1) v (4) Oklahoma
Alabama (2) v (3) Michigan State
Also, I'm sure everyone would like to take a moment to be very mature about Michigan's Jake Butt being named B1G Tight End of the Year.
