Sam Wants!
Sam Warburton wants his side to be "ruthless" against Italy on Saturday to warn France that Wales are "not messing around" in their 2012 Grand Slam bid.
All I want is for Sam to keep it shut and get on with playing rugby, hardly a day goes by without this young man wanting something!
Many Welsh fans wanted a win against France at the RWC SF but Sam booted that one into touch!
Keep your feet on the ground young man and keep it shut.

to be fair it is the media and not him I believe. Just like when Dayglo kept being quoted or Gatland.

I want the same thing though, in the same way we were ruthless against Fiji in the world cup. Or even, like England vs Italy last year where you showed no quarter.

Re: Sam Wants!
Hersh, what is the guy suppose to say when he is interviewed and questioned about how they will play italy.
Saying they need to be ruthless is the natural thing to say.
Anything he says can be construed either as to confident or too negative.

He always comes across very well in interviews. Unfortunately it's part of the Captain's role now to be in the media spotlight the whole time. Looks like Mr Warburton can handle the media, fair play to him.

Re: Sam Wants!
Is "ruthless" the right word to be used by a player with a bad discipline record from a team top of the ladder for foul play this year?
Might that not just be bait to the referees who are rightly running a fine tooth comb over some of the more dubious Welsh tactics at the moment?

Warburton is a sensible lad and uses his loaf most of the time. I just think he wants Wales to toast Italy and slice through their defence to send out a message to the french. I don't think you have to butter up the opposition too much before a game - that's not disrespectful. I think our forwards will provide us with a good Anchor and we can take it from there and hopefully spread the ball wide

FP Mitey your WUMing is superb, one to be desired by all WUMmers out there, and if your being serious, it's actually quite frightening that you dislike Wales that much you have to try and degrade Wales time and time again. Happy WUMming Oh and HERSH your not too far off either

Re: Sam Wants!
As we should, there is a reason behind the media asking MJ why he can't instill the proffesionalism of the Welsh captain, then MJ answering 'we can't all be superman'
This is a guy who trained twice Xmas day incase somebody else trained then too...
Who hasn't touched alcohol and only vice is chocolate...
Who asked a group of loudmouth welshman in a pub in London to quiten down...
And who is widely regarded as the best 7 on the planet behind Duss...
When this guy talks, it's not huffing and puffing like Gat's, or the likes of Ashton does, he talks to inspire, not only his own players and the nation but to inspire fear into the opposition...
And considering the mouthy reply by very very Jealous Englishmen... TICK!

Could've sworn I saw Burger coming off second best to Warbs time and time again in the WC
Can't wait for Saturday now, Italy are never an easy proposition any more but I get the feeling Wales will live up to the intent and rack up a score to head in against the French on a high.

You mean the first game burger played when he came back from a broken thumb and made 16 tackles with none missed, had a turn over and a couple of runs and some scinitilating offloads vs Warburton whom he outshone in just about every department on the day apart from Warbs taking a line out which Matfield does without effort?

He has been fairly and unfairly cited for dangerous tackles but only one reckless hand across the face.

Thats right he was cleared I think of the 'hand across the face'.
How did the Fitzgerald one turn out?
Berger outplayed Warburton? What match were you watching, Wales were largely the better team and Warburton enjoyed massive praise for largely putting Berger in a box.

What has Sam done wrong exactly?
He is the national captain of our rugby team, and the 6 Nations is the most important sporting event for Welsh people, Wales are playing well and we are all very interested in this talented young mans opinion.

Yes that one, the same one where Warbs made four turnovers and put in some big hits, including one on Burger himself.

If there's one person I can't remember in that game that was Burger. Warbs had an outstanding game. Burger should have been banned for years for what he did to Fitzgerald and for the touch judge to see it and recommended only a yellow was a travesty for rugby.

Yeah and he also missed a tackle or two, that against a man who hadn't played rugby for 8 weeks prior to that test.

Pretty sure that Burger's gouging of Fitzgerald's eye was allot more severe than Warbs 'tip' tackle on Clerc

Well just to set the record straight, he wasn't found guilty of gouging, he was found guilty of bein reckless.
This is not a competition about who has the biggest record, I am just illustrating how one reckless moment is blwon out of proportion and the other moment of reckless/irresponsible behaviour is swept as a marginal offence.
Not that I want to compare like for like, but would you want either of a broken neck or a blinded eye?

Hang on, I remeber with my own eyes Burger was raking at Fitzgeralds eyes, Warbs never intended to spear Clerc, he lost control of him in the air, and Clerc took a bad landing. It was a dangerous move but was not intentional. But Burger's was a serious offence and i'm pretty sure he got a ban for it, if he didn't its a disgrace. I know your point and I totally agree, but Burger's wasn't blown out of proportion, it was one of the worst things I have witnessed in rugby.

Re: Sam Wants!
That first ruck Warbs couldve had his hand up Bergers wifes dress and Berger wouldn't have been able to shift him!
What I like about sam is that he does this against everyone, he doesn't discriminate and do his best work against weakened teams...

Re: Sam Wants!
Martyr, I am not going to go through this again, it has been done to death, he recieved a ban for it, have attoned for it and has cleaned up his act, after coming back from injruy he played his first game vs Wales in the world cup and had the most offloads and was under the highest number of runs and the highest tackle cout for the sprinboks during the world cup.
To debate thes severity of any foul play is not going to go anywhere.

But mate, Charteris had more tackles than anyone at the WC, does this mean he's better than Berger? he is an average player that stats make better!!!
Berger was a top class player... 2 years ago, but today he is struggling, and in reality held onto the SA shirt 12 months too long!

well in that first ruck, warburton didn't come through the gate, the second ruck vs SA where J smit was tackled he never released the ball, as tackle assist he got away with a lot that day.
Please understan, I rate him very highly and think he is a very smart young man, but look at that video and see how many times as the tackle assist he never releases.

Tackle assist he is not, first man to the breakdown he is...
Through the gate always, with his feet at least before he gets to the ball...
It has hardly been a vintage year for SA has it, if he received player of the year it may go a way to answering questions about SA's world cup bid.
