Are Scotland experienced enough?
This is the side pretty much unanimously wanted to play Ireland:
15. Hogg - 19, 2 caps
14. Jones- 23, 3 caps
13. De Luca- 27, 29 caps
12. Scott- 21, 0 caps
11. Evans- 28, 24 caps
10. Laidlaw- 26, 5 caps
9. Blair- 31, 75 caps
8. Denton- 22, 4 caps
7. Rennie- 25, 11 caps
6. Harley- 21, 0 caps
5. Hamilton- 29, 34 caps
4. Gray- 22, 16 caps
3. Murray- 31, 41 caps
2. Ford- 27, 53 caps
1. Jacobsen- 33, 60 caps
Is this side experienced enough (I'm not saying it isn't)? And has Robinson delivered on his promise to evolve the Scotland team (if he does pick this team)?

That's a lot of hypotheticals.

its bad but its actually laughable the thought of Robinson picking Scott, far as I can see it'd have to be the rugby apocalypse before he does that!

Whoever inherits this Scotland team from AR will have a nice little start for the future. I still think Scotland are 1 or 2 years away from being very competitive though.

Who knows, is my answer, and to be honest it won't get any more experienced unless it gets on the pitch!123456789 wrote:This is the side pretty much unanimously wanted to play Ireland:

Re: Are Scotland experienced enough?
What does it matter...if they're good enough...play them!
Thats the stance we seem to be taking...and whilst we maybe havent set the world alight offensively yet...we've stil shown elements of promise. But we have finally got rid of the old hasbeens or never been average joes flooding the England squad....
Do you see Australia or NZ or SA saying...oooh i dont know they're good but are they experienced enough? No they dont...they play them! Im sure O'Connor was about 21 and had something daft like 30 or 40 caps....
Put the kids in is what i say?

The front row has more caps than the entire England squad.

Re: Are Scotland experienced enough?
Experience is actually probably the least important trait for players on the field. Being in form and familiar with each other and the game plan is much more important.
Professionalism with reasonable amounts of pressure and quite large crowds (plus the cauldron of the Heineken Cup) means that very few players, even youngsters, will be genuinely overawed by the international experience.

I think our experienced players are most of the problem right now if I'm honest

This experienced Crop of players have a high number of caps and a shockingly low number of tries. Jones, Hogg and Laidlaw have 10 caps between them and 3 tries between them.

Re: Are Scotland experienced enough?
I don't put much stock in experience if I'm being honest. I'll take form and ability over experience any day of the week.
Tindall was experienced going into the last World Cup. Enough said.
