Rugby League news
First topic message reminder :
Gareth Ellis has said he will make a decision on which team he will join before the end of March , his agent has said they have had offers from several clubs but have narrowed it down to 4 teams ...while he did not mention which clubs they were they are believed to be Leeds , Hull FC , Huddersfield and Warrington .
Catalan Dragons have denied Hull KR permission to train on the Stade Gilbert Brutus pitch before saturdays Superleague game , rules state it is the home teams choice if they allow visiting teams to use their pitches or not . Catalans have told Rovers to train elsewhere which hasn't gone down well with them , odd decision from the Dragons as they usually allow all visiting teams to use their facilities .
Ryan Bailey has been given a 3 match ban and a £300 fine for pushing a match official during Leeds Rhinos game against Warrington Wolves , Brent Webb was also fined £300 and given a verbal warning for the same offence in the same incident . Warringtons Mickey Higham received a 2 match ban for a high tackle on Rob Burrow in the same game .
Bradfords Jarrod Sammut was given a 1 match ban for a dangerous tackle against Hull KR , Hull FC prop Mark O'Melley was also given a 1 match ban for a dangerous tackle in Hulls game against St Helens .

Super League supporters can now ask referees questions on their big-game decisions via a regular online debate.
Top-flight referees will use Twitter every Tuesday afternoon to answer questions from fans.

Re: Rugby League news
We need to be realistic , League isn't as popular here as over in Australia it can't compete with Football or other sports .
Dont get me wrong i love the game but there is no money to be made in it over here and allowing clubs to go further in debt in a hope of winning one of two trophies available is stupid .
RFL needs to be changed completley as they really are living in cloud cuckoo land

Re: Rugby League news
Totally agree with what Hodgson says, most of the clubs in SL are either in debt or close to it. Crowds are lower, sponsorship is not bringing in a alot of extra cash. We need to be looking at these things before thinking about raising the cap.
Like he says,if players want to go to the NRL, they are going to regardless, and most aren't going for the money but to test themselves in the better league.

Re: Rugby League news
The full details of the plan Kenny/George are on about for those who haven't heard are as
follows.
End of 2014 season. 2 teams from SL will be relegated,4 teams from the championship, for ming 2 12 team leagues SL +SL1 for 2015 season. The clubs will then play each other either home or away up to round 11. After rd11, the top 8 clubs in SL will continue on the same points, face each other home + away, and still have a GF (possibly the top 4 clubs qualifying for the play offs), the bottom. 8 clubs of SL1 will do the same without the play offs.
The bottom 4 of SL and top 4 of SL1, will form a Mini League, all starting with nil points, they will play each other Home + away, and have a play off system as well. At the end of there season, the top 4 teams will return to SL, the bottom 4 will go to SL1, as I understand.
SL clubs are in favour and have already voted on it, lets hope some of

Some of the championship/championship 1 clubs see this is a stupid idea and vote it out.
Just another point on the mini league.
SL- wage cap £1.8m, 5 overseas players.
Championship - Wage cap £300,000, 1 overseas player (and yes I know there are ways around this).
Wonder who the top 4 should always be?

Re: Rugby League news
No George, it is confusing.
The only reason I can see for this is it keeps the franchise system while dangling the P+R carrot.
Though like I say the differences between the 4 teams in the mini league should mean that dosn't really happen.

St Helens centres Jordan Turner and Mark Percival have both signed new deals with the club.
Turner, 24, joined the club from Hull FC last season on a two-year deal but has extended his contract until 2016.
"Jordan has done well since he came and continues to improve and adapt to how we play," said head coach Nathan Brown.
Percival has signed until 2015 and the 19-year-old academy graduate made his debut this season and already has three tries in seven appearances.

Hull KR have signed half-back Danny Nicklas from York City Knights.
The 22-year-old started the season on loan with the Championship side from Hull FC before signing a permanent deal in April.
York coach Gary Thornton told BBC Radio York: "We signed him as a free agent on the understanding that he would stay here until the end of the season.
"Danny and his agent have exercised his right to get a Super League club. We're very disappointed."

The 35-year-old had been set to retire at the end of this season after signing a new one-year deal in May last year.
Leuluai has won five Grand Finals with the Rhinos and made his 200th appearance for the club in the win over Bradford Bulls last week.

Wakefield have appointed former St Helens forward Nick Fozzard as their new business development manager.
Fozzard, who enjoyed a successful playing career with Leeds, Huddersfield, Saints, Warrington and Hull KR, spent 12 months as commercial manager at Super League neighbours Castleford until resigning earlier this year.
"I'm from Wakefield so to work for my home-town club is a big thing for me and I want to make a real success of the opportunity," he said.
"The club has made some real strides off the pitch in the last couple of years and that's a really solid foundation for us to build on."
