606v2's Top 10 Movies of All time

Given the Nuts best 50 movies of all time thread , and the disagreements we all seem to have with the movies and positions picked i thought it might be a good idea to see what we all thought were the best movies ever and to have our own 606v2 top movies awards .

A top 50 might be pushing it so how about your top 10 ?

Giving points to each (ie for your number 1 movie 10 points down to 1 point for your 10th favourite ) we could then make a list of our top 10 movies of all time .

I'll pm mines when I get home from work. I'll be surprised if any of mine end up making the top ten barring maybe two

5 in now , all with different no1 choices thats the great thing about films we all have our opinions on whats good and whats not .

Even a top 10 is tough, especially when you have to try to work out the relative positions of films as diverse as Life of Brian, The Shawshank Redemption and The Empire Strikes Back.

Anyway, I'm working on it, and I'd be very pleasantly surprised if anyone else puts my top 2 into their lists at all - both hugely acclaimd classics, but perhaps age and genre counting against them in a popular vote.

You're right dummy_half, narrowing it down to 10 is really tough.

Think I need a bit more pondering time but I will make a final decision... some time tonight!

This will take some doing. I have just tried to scribble them down now and changed my mind multiple times. When is the closing date KK7H?

The secret is not to think about it too much, there are too many choices and if you question yourself every time you put a list of 10 together, you'll never be satisfied, always worried you may have left one or two out.

I went onto google, asked for the top 250 movies as I knew I won't remember them all, and picked my ten.

I think we will put a closing date of sunday 22nd april , that should give everyone enough time to get their choices in .

There are some really different top tens coming in and we still haven't had the same film be picked at no1 .

Mine are in. Once I had managed to get it down to ten then ranking them was even harder as I don't really have a particular favorite (apart from one of our dinosaurs is missing and I was too embarrassed to list that).

In no particular order Pulp Fiction , Gladiator, Bladerunner and The Shawshank Redemption are leading the way so far .

So if you want to see them stay near the top or drop down even send me your lists

I didnt pick any of those but out of the lot Gladiator is the only one id watch if it was on telly

I'd watch them all with Blade Runner being the pick of them for me but none get anywhere near my top 10.

Theres a clear top 15 but its close , there has been only 1 film get 10 points off 2 people so the list changes with every vote more or less . Although the top film is now 18 points in front

How long are you going to run it for, I am inquisitive to see the outcome.

Just had 3 more lists in and out of the 30 movies picked 11 hadn't been picked before .

It really is surprising me the number of films being chosen .

Sounds like you're getting some cracking responses. Can I ask that when you compile the final list, you also list all the films that have been rated #1 by the individual contributors - it will be interesting to see the range of tastes that we have.

Normally greatest movie of all time polls have one of the following as the winner; The Godfather, The Shawshank Redemption or Star Wars.

I'm genuinely excited to see if an outsider can take the honours, and curious where these three rank (if they rank).

Funny thing is Notch none of those 3 even made my list let alone even considered for it.

I'm interested to see how the list unfolds though.

One of my faves was on last night, 'One flew over the Cuckoos Nest' worst thing was I didn't vote for it!

Indeed, me neither (though at least two of them are all-time classics) because while I know they are good they aren't my personal favourites.

It's these endless Channel 4 list programmes that are on at Christmas that put them there; obviously they are highly acclaimed. I'm curious to see how they'll do in our poll.
