First topic message reminder :

Given the Nuts best 50 movies of all time thread , and the disagreements we all seem to have with the movies and positions picked i thought it might be a good idea to see what we all thought were the best movies ever and to have our own 606v2 top movies awards .

A top 50 might be pushing it so how about your top 10 ?

Giving points to each (ie for your number 1 movie 10 points down to 1 point for your 10th favourite ) we could then make a list of our top 10 movies of all time .

Cast Away was epic. The fact it was Tom Hanks for nearly an hour and watchable is the hallmark of a great performance.

I think the ending and him at the crossroads is just seriously good film-making. Summed up the ending superbly. A scene that completely sums the characters situation without the use of words.

Tom Hanks made some very good films in a short period of time.
Saving Private Ryan, Philidelphia, Forrest Gump and Castaway and Sleepless In Seattle.

Hanks in Road to Perdition was another epic peformance.

The best bit of casting there has ever been. Hanks, Law and Newman. Inspired!

In regards the casting in road to perdition,Its amazing how differently people look at things. Infact just seeing hanks in that part puts me of the film completly.

I think some peoples views on the film is that everyone was cast against type and why many actually like it.. But the film is known for its odd casting.

Not much of a Hanks fan either, he was made for Big & Forrest Gump but should've been drowned after those two.

At least he made up for it by co-producing Band of Brothers & the Pacific.

I didn't enjoy the casting of Craig in it.

It is flat out a top film.

On another note. Surprised that no Day Lewis films made the top 10. I was torn about putting There Will Be Blood and Gangs of New York in there.

Maybe the final Top Ten (even without my input!) should now be put in the opening comment as I think the discussion will go on from here and I had to chase down the result when I came in.

That's a pretty fine list of fine films. I'm not so certain most of them would have been in my top ten but many of them would be certainly be on a bigger list of favourites and they certainly tell me that people still watch movies for the right reasons - something I often doubt when I see the plethora of Superhero popcorn and the bawdy chick-lit TV comedies passing themselves off as classic Cinema

Out of interest when you say 'The Thing Original' are we talking about the 1951 film or the 1982 Carpenter remake with Mr Russell in his 2nd finest role.
