606v2's Top 10 Movies of All time

First topic message reminder :

Given the Nuts best 50 movies of all time thread , and the disagreements we all seem to have with the movies and positions picked i thought it might be a good idea to see what we all thought were the best movies ever and to have our own 606v2 top movies awards .

A top 50 might be pushing it so how about your top 10 ?

Giving points to each (ie for your number 1 movie 10 points down to 1 point for your 10th favourite ) we could then make a list of our top 10 movies of all time .

What does everyone think ?

I am really amazed at the vast array of films selected so far , from a possible 330 there have been 191 different films picked with 28 different films getting top marks .

Kenny, how many of those 191 are unique one-vote wonders?

I only started reading this thread about 2 hours ago, and already the suspense of this is killing me!

What's happening?

This is more suspenseful than waiting for the Best Supporting Actress nominations at the Academies....

I am beginning to think Kenny is milking this.

Maybe there were lots of late PM's, or maybe Kenny fell asleep, or worst of it all, he is manipulating the results. we'll have to get the Commission of voting to investigate this.

Yep, good stuff KingKenny. I love lists.

If someone wants to write a mini review/ synopsis/ why its so good for each film, I will pop up the list on the journal.

So to clarify - pick one of the films and write something about it (500 words max) - you dont have to do every film. Check to see if the film you are writing about has already been done though - no point in duplication!

Only gladiator made it.

That's a good list there, ten quality films. Surprised to see Gladiator that high, not that I don't think its good, but I wouldn't have thought of it as a number 2 film. Also surprised, but very pleased, to see 12 angry men in the top ten. The list is certainly superior to the nuts top 50 which inspired it.

It would be interesting to see the places further down, though I understand that this is more work for kingkenny.

So am I - it was top of my list but if you look back at my early post I reckoned no-one else would include it, not because it isn't a great film but it's just not the sort of film that does well in most of these types of poll (same with Casablanca, It's a Wonderful Life).

I'll do the synopsis for it as and when I get a chance.

And yes, this list is way better than the Nuts list that inspired Kenny to suggest we do this.

I've never seen 12 angry men and tbh never heard of it

May have to now though!

Stella, not everyone's cup of tea to be honest, Brad Pitt got great reviews for his role in it, but in all honesty I didn't enjoy it.
