HCup Rd1 (Pool 5): Leinster (9) v (6) Exeter Chiefs @ RDS (15:40, Saturday 13 October 2012)
First topic message reminder :
Exeter get welcomed into the Heineken Cup with a fabulous opening fixture. Definitely a case of being thrown in at the deep end.
Leinster have been slow to kick into gear so far this season. We have been leaking points in all our games and have a good few injury doubts with names like Healy, Quinn Roux, SOB, McLaughlin, Ruddock, Dom Ryan, Boss, BOD, Darcy, O'Malley, Conway, Nacewa, Fitzgerald, Kearney all injuried to some degree or other.
That said, Leinster at home in the HCup I'm going for a Leinster win, Exeter not to get a LBP, and Leinster not to get a TBP!

anyone know what the official colour of the Exter kit is?
I thought the Leinster play got a touch before it crossed the try line.

Both teams want quick ball and to go wide but the ref wont facilitate that.

Not sure - but the ref must have decided he did not.

Really surprised that Leinster are struggling to this degree in the scrum.

On the balance of play so far Exeter deserve to be in front.

Paddy Power's handicap was +17 points to Exeter for this game, I had a crafty bet which is looking promising at the moment.....

Why are the comentators talking like Exeter do not stand a chance, look at both clubs league form up till now and the Leinster injury list and you have to conclude that this is the best time to play Leinster in the last 5 years or so.

Its actaully a decent game Morgannwg, however I do wish the Clermont Scarlets game didn't clash witht his one its been a tough deciion as to which game to watch.

There has been a lot of attacking play - but the ref is finding a lot of things he can penalise the attacking team for.

How many people would have given Exeter a chance? Exeter's first half performance has not come as surprise - but I expected more from Leinster.

Well at least it shows that Leinster would be able to hold their own in the Aviva Premierhsip. Keeping Exeter to a 3-3 scoreline is pretty good considering....

Looks like I'm wrong on this occassion then. Who is the ref? Fitzgibbon is the offical for the Clermont/Scarlets fixture. He's consistent as usual but I don't agree with a few of the decisions.

Scarlets games are always full of drama and normally good attacking play. What did Stoddart do?

A french ref who apparently gave 36 penalties in a Leinster/Munster game last year!!!!!Morgannwg wrote:Looks like I'm wrong on this occassion then. Who is the ref? Fitzgibbon is the offical for the Clermont/Scarlets fixture. He's consistent as usual but I don't agree with a few of the decisions.
His decisions are not wrong (as such) just with so many things to penalise at the breakdown etc he seems to have decided to concentrate on the attacking team.

Probably no chance of a bonus point win now. The Exeter players didn't even look particularly tired coming off. Leinster will have to up the intensity and pace. If not they could lose.

Ill be honest Feckless, there has been a fair amount of arrogence regarding this game with many under estmating this Exeter side. I don't know why the bonus point win was talked about with such abandon

There have been a couple of high tackles by Leinster players which have been missed by the officials.

Exeter are also doing well in the premiership and have just come off the back of battering Quins the defending english champions

I've never watched Exeter play before. They're good. I did underestimate them.
But Leinster have been getting bonus point wins at home against good teams like Scarlets, Saracens, Racing Metro etc. etc. for years. That's why us fans would always be hoping for one, unless it's against one of the really top teams. Maybe it's a bit arrogant. But it's based on expecting to get what we've become used to getting.

Leinster are getting the big calls here. They should have had a yellow card in the first half for a blatant trip and another dodgy pen here which Sexton will probably put over

Only one side doesn't deserve to be in; starts in S, ends in E.

I don't think it was as the Exeter player did tackle him without the ball before the knock on.

What is moore talking about, if a player is hit off the ball then the knock on doesn't matter, as clearly Nacewa hit the ground before the ball.
