Good evening from the media centre at the back of the OCS Stand. It looks a bit gloomy through the window but there should be few problems with getting a full game in. Not a huge crowd at this stage but judging by the large number of stewards in orange hi-vis jackets quite a large gathering must be expected.

Both teams are as expected so RHB and Jordan play against their old county.

A few worrying moments as Trevor Jesty is hit by a Jason Roy drive down the ground. Luckily it hit him on the shoulder and, despite the stretcher coming all the way out to the middle, he is OK to continue.

Ponting got a bit bogged down so decided he wanted to hit one over the river. Instead it went straight to long-off. Surrey 56-3.

Mahmood becomes the fourth Surrey batsman to hit it straight down a fielder's throat. Pitch perhaps a bit slow and boundaries are very long (pitch right in the middle of the block; ropes not in at all).

Sounds like a dodgy decision has got Smith out. Sussex haven't had much luck with Umpires this season.

Smith decision felt odd but I had my head in my laptop so I can't really say.

Sussex looking somewhat favourites to win as Surrey haven't been able to back up that early flurry of wickets.  We are going to need some good death bowling from Dernbach....

But as I type Batty strikes to bring game back to evens....

MOTM for Surrey the umpire. Stupid decision to remove Dwayne Smith, who looked well on his way for a big innings. 

Shame Brown faced the last ball and not Beer. Brown really can't bat in this format of the game.

Surrey won that game rather than Sussex losing it. Superb from Dernbach and Mahmood.

Just looking at the replay on Surrey TV.  Can't see anything wrong with that decision at all.

Pity that Drinks carrier will be on international duty for the next match.
