Burns told to face Crawford....

As stated in the title.

But Eddie the Lizard has other ideas, begging the WBO to postponed the mandatory defence so they can fight Manny's ex-sparring partner again.

Crawford has been mandatory for quiet a while now so deserves his shot and I think Top Rank will make sure Crawford is next as he is unbeaten and has the potential to be a decent belt holder.

Who would want to watch a Burns rematch with Beltran anyway. He got embarrassed and I'm guessing the crowd that was there would be thinking twice about paying again to watch it.

Either way you'd slate him reborn, he rematches Beltran he's ducking Crawford, he fights Crawford he's ducking Beltran. The anti Hearn brigade seemingly complain no matter what he does.

He is quickly becoming a joke champion is Burns.

Had a mandatory against Ghonzales....then Beltran brought in for a soft defence.....now the want another voluntary. Crawford was ahead of Beltran in the rankings and was due to face the winner. Think its only fair that Crawford gets his shot like he is supposed too. Then maybe defend against Beltran.

Certainly been surprised the way Burns stock has dropped over the last year or so.

The only complaints iv had about Hearn is Froch v Groves and this situation.

I want to see Burns face Crawford as Crawford is mandatory. I want Beltran to get another shot, just not against Burns. He already beat him in most peoples eyes.

And it doesnt matter anyway Hammer, Top Rank will get Crawford that belt by any means, either by Burns forced to fight him or Burns getting stripped. Beltran v Crawford for the vacate belt would be perfect. Bob has more influence than Ed.

I agree partially Truss. I want Beltran to fight for the belt that he should own. But not against Burns in Scotland again. Burns had a broken jaw in that fight, ring rust in the previous one....wonder what the next reason will be..

Donaire, Rigo, Rios, Alvarado, Provodnikov, Juanma, Manny, Salido, Martinez, Mikey Garcia, Bradley.....they have been good to Top Rank as well over the last couple of years.

Eddie Hearn claims he's trying to get a unification fight with either Vazquez(IBF) or Abril(WBA).

Burns gets humiliated by both.

Fight with Crawford would be in America, as TR and HBO have more cash than Hearn.

Crawford would easily take the belt of Burns.

Could Eddie have 3 fighters stripped of their belts in little more than 3 weeks?

Would that be some kind of record for a promoter?


This never would have happened under Warren. Frank has one of those red flashing telephones with a direct link to the President of the WBO.


Burns isn't tip top world class and should have been happy making good money while holding a shiny belt under Warren.

It was a genuine question though. Two belts stripped and now potentially another. Is that a record?


Hearn hit the scene with a huge PR campaign and did a lot of spoofing in iFilm London interviews and on Twitter. Some people are holding up a mirror to that and I'm one of them.

I know their agenda is to get a strangle hold on British boxing and I think that's a bad thing.

as long as he fights either Beltran or Crawford im happy. both good tough fights. no way does he deserve an easy one after the last two.

he has two good options there. if he vacates the belt or finds a way to fight crolla then we know what they are up to then.

Crawford is a great fight and he is the mandatory challenger.

Whoever wins should then fight Beltran.

If he has two options yet hes looking for a unification, then it seems to me they are looking for a way out.

Bit of a hard spot for Ricky, going after Belgian is what he wants and what the public feels is right but Crawford has been biding his time and it's not fair on him to be sidestepped, especially given he will probably deal with Burns without too much trouble

Was watching Crawford this morning as it happens, he is very good, made Prescott look very poor up at 140 lbs too. Think he really gives it to Burns to win a decision or possibly stop him late on.

I don't see why it's such a travesty though the rematch with Beltran happening. I also didn't think it was the worst decision ever (A draw not the one judge that had Burns up by 2) very questionable but can actually get to there personally, though it is giving Burns every credit imaginable throughout the fight.

Think he beats Beltran in a rematch without the jaw broken aswell personally, think he is more adaptable than Beltran is. But Crawford, I just cannot see him winning. To be fair any unification fight is more than acceptable also. All of the options sound good, personally I would prefer to see the rematch with Beltran. There's no way it happens in America because there's no money for the fight over there, but a rematch in Scotland would probably do well. Crawford to get the shot against the winner of that fight, which probably ends up meaning Crawford will be the 135lb champ, and chances are he dominates that division from then on.

Crawford has been mandatory for quiet a while now and was supposed to get a shot after the previous Burns v Beltran match. If I was him i'd be rightly peeved. Why wait?? He fought his way to a shot and just because Beltran got shafted isn't Crawfords fault. He was mandatory when that fight happened and he had to wait, so why wait again??

Get the fight and try to win the belt. As Beltran is also Top Rank, he will surely get another chance to fight for it.
