Joshua vs Molina Empty Joshua vs Molina

Post by tommyhearnsprodigalson Sun 14 Jun 2015, 1:45 pm

Hey guys, after watching Wilder vs Molina last night it got me thinking that Molina could be a perfect opponent for Joshua, afterall it would be an easy sell "the guy that nearly knocked Wilder out, went 9 rounds with the champ, name recognition" etc etc

Tbf I think Joshua would beat Wilder right now but we all know that's never gonna happen,

Anyway what are people's thoughts on this potential match up?

I was thinking the same thing. I think Joshua would beat him handily enough though. Wilder made very hard work of the fight.

AJ would gobble him up. He was visibly flinching in the early rounds whenever Wilder threw anything, at a loss as to why Wilder was reluctant to engage early doors.

AJ would be all over him, Molina would be in survival mode from the opening bell. Typical AJ fight.

I'd still prefer to see him go down the Whyte, Price and Cornish route to secure that Lonsdale belt, hopefully picking up the European title on the way. I'd back him to beat Wilder right now but do like someone going the traditional route first.

Like hammersmith I like fighters to go the traditional route Whyteleafe for British, Price for British and European provided price comes through. Then chisora to defend both as a durable gatekeeper to keep the Lonsdale belt, then anyone who will step in with him as by then he would have turned a few more heads, mate the potential to fight Joseph parker if he gets some names on his cv in same time.

Molina got flattened in 1 round by Arreola a few years back.. but it would be a good yard stick for Joshua.

Also not seeing the point at which Wilder "Nearly gets knocked out". He got buzzed from a shot, covered up well and landed his own as well.

Not the perfect opponent at all................He's a useless slob that will go 2 minutes at the most......

Wilder was awful............He's a crap champion that Joshua could bang out now !!..

Although he's more interesting than the mauling stinker..

I'd pick Fury to beat Wilder....

Don't compare a guarded Wilder to a huge straight punching Joshua........Molina won't last a round...

Molina is a pitiful slob that shouldn't be anywhere near a title fight..

I think Joshua would take Wlad right now. I actually think AJ could take out any heavyweight in history including Lennox. He's just that good lol's.

Haven't seen the fight but is it possible Wilder wanted the rounds, seeing that Povetkin will be in front of him all night?

Joshua would beat Molina, as the OP stated it would make a cracking fight (in the sense that it would generate interest, and provide a yard stick).

A peak Sanders would be undisputed heavyweight champ should he boxing today.

Struggling to see why the f*ck you idiots want to see Molina in with Joshua....mind you, think the word "idiots" might have sorted that issue out

AJ against a guy too sh!t to beat a sh!t HW champion is going to be some kind of yardstick? You lot want beating severely with this yardstick.

Haha. Steady on Dave.

A yardstick in the sense that when he dispatches of Molina quicker than Wilder the hype will go into hyperdrive. A great deal will be made of the common opponent theme... and it may land him a shot at wilder quicker than they planned.

The did the same with Bruno when he and Tyson were fighting common opponents prior to their first fight. Think Tyson came over to watch Bruno beat Carl Williams (might be wrong, probably am, let's not dwell on it) Think Bruno broke his nose and the guy snotted blood and mucus all over Mike's jacket which looked like he'd borrowed it from Elton John.

Ultimately means nothing. The only way to gauge how Joshua does against Wilder is to stick him in with a similar kind of fighter and even then there are so many variables to consider it becomes an exercise in futility., Joshua's either ready or he's not (personally I think not quite yet although with Wilder being so poor, AJ's probably much closer to a title shot than he would be ordinarily)
