Re: Canelo vs Golovkin, September 16
Great news. A real banner year for boxing, 2017.
This, along with AJ's emergence could help bring the sport back into the mainstream in a way it hasn't been since Tyson was cracking heads.
Alvarez via decision looks a nice bet based on recent performances, though, have a feeling Golovkin might put in a special performance.

If one more person finds an angle to be bring AJ into a discussion my head will explode
Finally and I'm convinced this could be a war. GGG must start as favourite but Canelo is solid. If he can take his shots we will be in for a thriller. I'm going GGG close on points or maybe late stoppage. Both have decent boxing skills and power could be the difference. Can't wait!!!

Good timing for Alveraz. He will be hurt and it will be close. But I predict a new king at 160. Great news!

Like him or loathe him, AJ has given the sport a massive injection (no pun intended).
This will be a fun fight - a reward for the fans. Could do 100, 000 tickets and unlikely to disappoint.

Re: Canelo vs Golovkin, September 16
Great this is finally happening. Alvarez d*cked around, long enough so no-ones going to pat him on the back too hard, but some credit due.
Having looked strong above middle yesterday (weigh in, he's obviously always above middle fight night) and ggg looking beatable against Jacobs, it sets this up nicely. Some will say it's the only reason the fight is happening.
I always leant to ggg in this but unlike most I always thought his style would suit canelo. Jacobs is a totally different fighter to Alvarez so who knows how much canelo's style will also suit golovkin.
Think this boils down to canelo's capacity to absorb punishment, he looks solid but it's something we've never really seen tested. I expect a very competitive fight, looking forward to it.

Re: Canelo vs Golovkin, September 16
I agree with your assessment.
Canelo isn't the quickest, bout he is a very solid boxer/puncher and he's getting better with age.
Good timing for him. I wouldn't of picked him a year or two go.
GGG will probably need a stoppage, or at least dominate the rounds. I have always stated GGG as overrated and this fight will show that.
Remember if he loses, it's f all to do with age. Plenty of fighters still great at his age these days. I don't think GGG has slipped, he just has stepped up in class. He Is about to step up again. He will lose.

Get your money on AT - Canelo at 6-to-4 underdog must look like a licence to print money in your book.
Let's hope one of them wins decisively. Boxing is getting the fights right, let's hope we don't have another 12 round decision that has everyone venting spleen for six months afterwards.
It would be great if one of them got a KO - we need more of them in these big fights!

Re: Canelo vs Golovkin, September 16
Haz I never sit on the fence (other than Aj Wlad). I am backing Canelo and I will put a tidy sum.
If it's a ko, only one winner. GGG is as tough as nails, though Canelo isn't a softy.
If Canelo wants to win, he needs to be busy and effective with counter punching. I think he needs an early lead. If he tries chasing GGG, he will get knocked out. I have picked my winner, but many will back GGG. It's a great fight and a great year for boxing.
I had previously thought boxing was sliding, but this year Is going to be huge. Sport doesn't need Floyd or Manny. It's a new generation and plenty of good guys coming through.
Would it be too much to ask, to have Lomachenko v Mikey as well??

Golovkin will put some serious hurt on Canelo.
Got a feeling we'll see the best Golovkin we've ever seen.
I could be wrong though, after all, Canelo was born ready.

The Chavez fight was rigged as f*ck!!
I'll give anyone 9-4 on a Canelo win against GGG.
Canelo will pull out or get badly beaten - Guaranteed!!

Finally.
Golovkin will start as a warm favourite but I think Alvarez will pose him some serious questions along the way, the power might not be a huge factor on recent showings.

Think that hindsight it's a much that they held it off as about 80% of people thought GGG would wipe the floor with Canelo, now he's only a slight favourite
Stylistically I think both are perfect for each other
GGG likes to come forward and is open to counters which is perfect for Canelo
And Canelo often blocks shots and doesn't use much footwork in his defence which is perfect for GGG
Think the Jab is key in this fight, both have short powerful jabs and it may come down to whoevers is the more effective
Don't think it'll be a proper war like morales barrera etc but it'll be interesting and it may get rough in the last few rounds
Personally I think GGG will break Canelo down, think he'll be throwing the Jab like he did against Lemieux and should be able to take canelo power
Great fight and kudos for Canelo for taking the fight I never thought he would

Re: Canelo vs Golovkin, September 16
Plenty of Americans think Canelo wins. Suppose he's the darling of Latinos.
I'm sticking with Canelo for the upset. No way he gets smashed easily. Canelo has been in huge fights before.
Canelo wins the first 4 rounds. GGG doesn't want to rush in and eat hard counters.
Sanchez sends GGG out to go for the stoppage and he starts to gain ground. His best chance is getting Canelo out of there.
A wounded, possibly dropped Canelo loses middle rounds. However he shows grit and gets his second wind, to win the championship rounds and earn a tough, but deserved decision.

Canelo has power. Every guy that has been in with him confirmed it. GGG has heavier hands, but if Brook can hurt him (Sanchez and GGG confirmed this), Canelo could knock his block off, if he rushes in.

Exactly!
Couldn't get an old Cotto out of there, Liam Smith went 9 rounds with him too.
Chavez was drained, had one fight in about two years and he still went the distance with Nelo.
I wonder if team Nelo will agree to Vada testing for this fight. If so, will he do the same as Jacobs and
check in as late as possible with a view to coming into the fight as big as ever.
Either way, his skills are SERIOUSLY overrated. Body language is a dead giveaway,
imo he knows he's f**ked come September 16th.

It seems to me that Canelo's team have had a plan - in waiting their moment and improving Canelo's skill set in order to take on and beat GGG. I think Canelo is going to win on points.

So asking for a level playing field is 'complaining'?
I'm just sick of this punk Canelo stacking the deck in his favour - catchweight's galore, juiced to the gills.
But I guess in your world that's all okay right - anything to see Golovkin get beat.

He doesn't balloon up in weight like Canelo does, plus he's in 365 testing all year round.
Tested 5 times against DJ - was DJ even tested?
Canelo's muscle mass is suspicious as hell.
Before anyone mentions it - the CBP does not mean you're being tested.

No blood, only urine. Why would he only want to use urine? Plus he refused Vada against Smith.

So is muscle mass the only indicator?
Why is Fury up for testing positive then? Take it Wlad switched bottles then?
Not saying Canelo is definitely clean. Only he knows for sure. But we have to give the benefit of the doubt. There are guys I definitely have suspicion use. But without proof, it is only suspicion. So Canelo is clean until proven otherwise.
If Canelo's muscle indicates he uses, what about Golovkin's power?
Canelo is naturally a big guy. He has a broad face and big boned. He's like Rooney, who has a similar structure naturally.

Hi Dylan - you are saying that Canelo is drugged enhanced yet you are also saying Canelo lacks power and skills and is going to be found out by GGG who is going to put him through a world of pain. So why worry whether Canelo is on drugs if he is heading for a painful defeat due to a lack of power and skill? Or is that in the back of your mind you think that Canelo may in fact win?

Re: Canelo vs Golovkin, September 16
Not wanting to give blood and only urine isn't suspicious?
Golovkin's power has always been there, right from day one, not as if it suddenly appeared outta nowhere. Canelo just doesn't look natural at all.
His power is overrated so too are his skills. Why the f**k should some diva boxers be allowed advantages as a way of improving their chances in a fight?
Weight bullies - nothing wrong with that right? There are rules in sport for a reason, but I guess we should just f**k the rules, especially if it's to the advantage of the guy we want to win. No room for integrity and principles on this forum, especially if we get to see the 'hype job' Golovkin finally beaten.

Doesn't want to fight Golovkin for the WBC belt all of a sudden....hmm, I wonder why? Vada testing maybe?
Nevermind, let's give him the benefit of the doubt. A true warrior like this Mexican legend deserves it. He sure doesn't f*ck around!!

Alvarez contrives a dispute with the WBC to evade mandatory VADA testing. Hate on Golovkin all you want Hammy, but anyone with half a brain knows exactly what game that lil bitch is playing.
Fingers crossed Golovkin loses though - we gotta keep 'Special' Bernard's record in tact.

Lol why is Canelo juicing, but part Russian GGG is clean?
GGG could be clean, so could Canelo.
I have my opinion on sports and drugs, but evidence is key.
Dylan unless an athlete fails the test and it's made public, it's pure conjecture.
Anthony Joshua has arms bigger than many bodybuilders, plus he has gained near 30 lbs (two stone) of solid muscle in a couple of years.
Is he genetically gifted? On Ped's? Maybe both?
Point is, we can all point fingers. I would know because I have done my share. I know you're trolling, but It passes my time, while wife watches sh1te tv.
Canelo is clean, until otherwise proven.

I can understand criticising Alvarez for his catchweight fights but he invariably fights who people want him to; Trout, Mayweather, Lara, Angulo, Kirkland, Cotto, Chavez and now GGG is not the record of a fraud.

It's only as pathetic as Dylan once again throwing his toys out of the pram and claiming to all and sundry that Canelo is definitely 100 hundred percent on drugs just in case his boy toy GGG loses (which since Jacobs looks a real possibility).
How he can have little power (in dyls opinion) yet be this roided up monster is also beyond me.
Should be a cracking fight and am hoping Canelo takes it, he deserves a hell of a lot of stick for the catchweight nonsense but this GGG's just a perfectly nice person who never does anything wrong attitude is more annoying and Just like Manny, it's funny watching the meltdowns afterwards.

Really really really looking forward to this. A lot of people will be going off recent performances, but we should all know from watching the other week that we should never really do that in this sport at times.
Should be an absolute tear up. Canelo is a very sturdy fighter, respectable power, faced the better opposition all be it at Caneloweight....but GGG with is amateur pedigree, formiddable power and experience in general will make for a classic fight....not to mention his style.
Pick em fight
Where will it be held? Im going to get tickets (well, try anyway)
