SURREY VS MIDDLESEX/KENT SPITFIRES NATWEST T20 BLAST
Surrey have named a fifteen man squad for the next two games in the NatWest T20 Blast – away at Lord’s tonight (Thursday July 13th) and at home to Kent tomorrow (Friday July 14th).
The squad is bolstered by the return of Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakkara and club captain Gareth Batty, who both missed the opening weekend with hand and calf injuries respectively.
Dropping out of the squad are Freddie van den Bergh and Ryan Patel
Think it's fair to say the burger van has had his chips.
The game starts at 6.15pm at Lord’s and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports 2
Full Surrey Squad
Gareth Batty (captain)
Scott Borthwick
Rory Burns
Sam Curran
Tom Curran
Jade Dernbach
Aaron Finch
Ben Foakes
Stuart Meaker
Ollie Pope
Ravi Rampaul
Jason Roy
Kumar Sangakkara
Dominic Sibley
Mark Stoneman
if Foakes is ok maybe Borthwick,Burns Meaker and Stoneman to miss out.
Over to you chaps

Cheers, JimBob. Agree with you on the most likely four to miss out but you never really know the injury situation ... or who might have walked out since the squad was announced!
Buger van has had his chips - liked how you did that!

With ThatsAll, The Pope and Sam at 4/5/6, we need (at least) one of Finch & Sanga to fire big time tonight. But (mid over 4) it doesn't sound like either will perish wondering.

Santa racing along at an SR of over 200. Surprised to see Borthwick ahead of Stoneman.

Bizarre team selection - clear to anyone with a working brain that it is a batsman light - so no surprise we're woefully under par here

Re: SURREY VS MIDDLESEX/KENT SPITFIRES NATWEST T20 BLAST
So Borthwick, clearly not picked as the 6th bowler, played as a specialist batsman coming in at number 8???? Awful selection, cost us the game not having that extra batsman.

Burns or stoneman wouldn't have made any difference as t20 doesn't suit either.
any one else olly ?

Even if they wouldn't have scored many runs, it would've meant we wouldn't have had Foakes/Pope/the Currans not coming in at least one space higher than they should be batting, heck even having Borthwick not batting at 8 and say at 3/4 would be better. If he is going to play, his best chance to score runs quickly is when the field is up in the powerplay, he hasn't got the power to come in at the end and hit sixes

Surprisingly close game after a listless Surrey batting performance. Agree others' comments that batting line up looked distinctly light. Tho, well bowled Batty.

Re: SURREY VS MIDDLESEX/KENT SPITFIRES NATWEST T20 BLAST
The Middx game - one batsman (to keep the freeflowing Sanga company for a few overs) short - and the Kent game - one bowler (to offer variety and check the scoring rate) short - show how much Surrey miss Zaf in T20. There have been more than a few moments this year where we could have done with him in CC1 and the One Day Cup, too - eg the Final
.
He is already a massive, massive loss to Surrey in all forms of the game and, despite his difficult time last winter, probably a big longer term loss to England as well.
