Mayweather McGregor PPV price....

I don't know how accurate this is yet but I have a mate who works for sky and apparently the price for the may v McG ppv is going to be..... £89.99

That's the first thing I said but I've woke up this morning and it's actually on Facebook now as well....

This cannot be true surely

Seen a report apparently quoting Espinoza that it was $89.99 on Showtime and that the price in the UK was going to be £59.99 but that they were in discussions with 2 networks.... ITV box office being the 2nd one.

I thought it was a joke going around

At the moment it's all rumours of course but what concerns me here is if they do go ahead with a silly price for UK PPV and it does decent numbers, which I think it might, then that's the new blue print for all future 'superfights'.

Expect Joshua Klit rematch to be at least £29.99, and that's being conservative.

The problem with this is there are a lot of people that actually think McGregor has a genuine chance. As bizarre as it is.

I am certainly not paying £60 for this rubbish! I would pay the normal price, but not a penny more. They can f..k off!!

I'd pay the normal price to be honest. It does appeal as a novelty and it's a cheap nights entertainment. But yeah, standard PPV price or not at all for me.

You're probably right in what you said in your first reply Adam, the £89.99 has probably been confused with the price in dollars but it certainly appears that it's going to have a special UK price not like anything we've had to pay before.

Yeah mate, they will definitely charge more. They need to be careful though. People over here have never paid huge ppv and I doubt they will for this.

lets not forget that this will be on 5am uk time, not a chance they be'll charging around 60quid for a early hours show

I hope you guys who are so sure it is going to be the usual price are correct. But the fact I posted it here after speaking to a guy at sky and then the exact same information is all over facebook the very next morning cannot just be a coincidence in my opinion.

To us boxing fans May Vs Pac was a massive event but for casual fans and people in general the interest was minimal here. You're underestimating the the anticipation this fight holds for people. For casual boxing fans and MMA fans it's a big big deal and something not to be missed.

People here really underestimate the popularity of UFC in this country and in particular the popularity of Conor McGregor.

I think the original info I got of £89.99 is probably incorrect but I will be very surprised if it is £19.95. I expect it to be £29.99 at the absolute minimum and I think it will do very good numbers.

Sky will use this to test the waters on increasing the price of PPV events IMO. Just like a lot of you believe Bellew Vs Cleverly was the blueprint for the current model i believe this event will be used to test how much people are willing to pay for a 'special event'.

With only just over a month to go we are sure to find out soon but I will be very very shocked if this doesn't come with a special price attached to it.

I don't think there is any real appeal for the fight in this country nor do I think it will do particularly well PPV wise.

It's at 4 o'clock in the morning and doesn't involve any British fighters, a bit of hype on Facebook doesn't translate beyond that.

Every mma fan I know and many others are talking about it. Even the ones that agree it's a farce, still say they will most likely get it. You guys may not like it, but it's a huge draw!

My guess is it will be around £20 or slightly higher but I cant see this doing massively well here in the UK. It is a joke fight, the p4p best boxer in the world against a guy who has never had a professional boxing match in his life.

Being on at 5am wont help the ppv numbers and the number of streaming websites and apps available now that offer really good quality streams will affect how many buy ppv.

I actually think the numbers will be low for a Mayweather fight.

Personally I think it will be the same price but the argument that it will cost more is that they have mma fans interested in the fight and so can charge more as its a 'once in a lifetime fight' between the 'best' in mma v the 'best' in boxing.

I'd probably buy this in a group. As a fan of the sport I would like to enjoy this spectacle Regardless of the fact that it is a farce.

It always makes me laugh so so many people will happily buy a round of 4 pints for over £20 every weekend but are outraged at paying £20-30 3-4 times a a year and a cheap night in.

There's probably people on this board who smoke 20 fags a day but moaning at speaning a fraction of that cost.

I'm the same as Squared Circle - accept it's a farce but just enjoy with a few mates. no harm done!

I don't see the connection between buying alcohol and being conned out of your money for semi-decent but not ppv fights.

I feel annoyed at paying for PPV because a lot of the fights should be on non-ppv channels because they are not big enough to warrant a one off payment of 20 pounds.

Mayweather v McGregor is not worthy of PPV in my eyes. A boxing match where the worlds best is fighting a guy with 0 boxing fights, it will be a 120-108 decision win for Mayweather.
