Re: SURREY VS GLAMORGAN/SOMERSET/SUSSEX SHARKS NATWEST T20 BLAST
My first game for a couple of years last night - Batty and Dernbach still as awful as I remembered - Batty bowled what looked like a series of long-hops. Sam Curran and Roy disappointing. Finch and Stoneman were good - why hasn't he been playing in these? Excellent effort from Tom Curran at the end. Clarke must have the longest run-up for someone of his pace - he actually gets slower nearer the wicket.
The departures of Ansari, Foottit and Sibley (albeit for different reasons publicly) makes me wonder if all is not well at Surrey (again).

We seem to be one of the only teams in the t20 to think scoring 150 every time is good...

Seriously now, why the heck is he playing if he isn't going to bowl? What on earth is going on in our selection meetings!

And why bowl Sam out, and now Clarke also, ahead of TC and Dernbach when we need a wicket

In case anyone hadn't noticed and as if to prove Olly's rather indelicate point, following Kent's win over Somerset yesterday we are now bottom of the Southern group.
With 3 games to go and the table still being pretty tight, I guess we could still make the quarter finals but we're going to have to win all 3 and hope for a slice of luck with other results. Given how well we started this tournament together with the hopes we had and the expectations of success others had for us, extremely disappointing.
Looking back to the Somerset t20 game (I wasn't around at the time), the side we picked then was ridiculous. At the least, we need to lose one bowler and bring in a batsman. I'll leave Surrey's cricket management to pick the names out of a hat!

JimBob - you going to the game? Don't forget to take a rhino or wear your laces!

I don't understand a T 20 side with Stoneman and Borthwick but no Foakes. That's All is just as likely to score as many as those two in the middle order and it surely makes sense to play your best available w/k. Stop Press ... especially if you rack up nearly 200 for only two wickets.

Anybody know why the bloody hell we decided to play Borthwick as a bowler?

Re: SURREY VS GLAMORGAN/SOMERSET/SUSSEX SHARKS NATWEST T20 BLAST
Hey guys, enough with the gloom and pessimism. Almost despite themselves, Surrey are now - unless I've got it horribly wrong somewhere - guaranteed to go through if we win our last two. That is well within our capability in a highly unpredictable Group, not least as neither of our remaining opponents is tearing up trees, either. I think we could even sneak through with just one more win, but that would need a big dollop of luck from elsewhere.
And all this with a stuttering set of performances: Borthwick is having a tough season, the Currans and JD are blowing hot 'n' cold, while the batting has been flaky, too. To my mind the (re)acquisition of an older, wiser Rikki Clarke to bolster the middle order is a shrewd move. If we can only get other talented players to play more consistently, ie to somewhere nearer their potential, we could yet go far in this competition.
