Japan V Scotland (if it's on)
First topic message reminder :
MATCH 40
SUNDAY 13 OCTOBER
KICK OFF (UK TIME)
11:45
SCOTLAND
WORLD RANKING 9TH
Referee: Ben O'Keeffe
International Stadium Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Yokohama City
(Or not at all)
Is this Schrodinger's game in that it can be considered both on and cancelled at the same time? I'm sure Jimbo will correct me in my interpretation....

Exceptional stuff in a dominant Japanese start.
Scots fortunate to only be seven down.

Our kicks need to be either contestable or into touch. Handing Japan the ball back is just dangerous

Can't let them get too far ahead of us - need to cut out these mistakes

Looks like an accidental head clash to me, can’t give a YC for that.

That would be harsh, Jonny Gray is about the cleanest player in world rugby.

We might have got away with one there, though it was a penalty at the least

If it's a penalty then it's a yellow card, there comes a point where you can't get any lower and not all head contact is foul play.

Common sense was not to give a card, however the arm over the shoulder is high.

Lucky not to be a pen - even in the old days that was a classic seatbelt tackle

Re: Japan V Scotland (if it's on)
Japanese hooker’s knee was almost on the ground. Can’t penalise that.
In other news, again we’re kicking ball and either not getting to it or not getting it out of play.

Japan have starved us of possession, obviously done their hwk. Think this one is Japans, even if we win.

Re: Japan V Scotland (if it's on)
My take on the Gray tackle is that he had the right body position for making the tackle and the hooker dropped into it. The head positioning was unfortunate for both of them. He wasn't leading with the shoulder.
In other words if he had of been leading with the shoulder he'd be having a sit down about now.

Fully agree, but his arm went above the shoulder.

I bet right now Scotland are wishing the came was called off.
Scotland are simply being out played by Japan.

Why TF did Hogg kick that 22 short with 1 minute to go???
Smash I long and defend the half!!!
Stupid, stupid decision m it's not like we've had any success with our kick follow ups!

Re: Japan V Scotland (if it's on)
I think that is it
Since the first 10 mins, we have done nothing
We are lucky they missed their pens or we would be going home now

Haha, both times Japan miss a three-pointer, they score a try shortly after the restart.
This is a one-sided demolition job.

Re: Japan V Scotland (if it's on)
I think its fair to say Japan have been the best team in the pool by far, its probably fair to say the refs have been fairly favourable to the home side too.

Let's look at this. There isn't a single facet of play in which we are better. Not one.

My point exactly. We’re not playing our own game. We’re giving Japan the ball and asking them to attack. We’re not Ireland. Plus it never even worked for Ireland.
Keep the ball in hand and run at them. If nothing, ping the ball deep. It’s crazy to give Japan the ball inside our own half
