Well the Auld Alliance trophy is up for stake between Scotland and France.

France who are probably everybodies favourites for the championship now +/- a Grand Slam to boot but they have found Scotland a hard nut to crack over the past few years and it has likely cost them 2 championshipos. They won't be taking us lightly this time, nor will they probably throw the game a way with a silly punch or crazy run from their own line with the clock dead.

They will be tough to beat though, all the more so as they will be taking this game very seriously.

As for Scotland, well how different this game might have been had we played well and beaten Wales. The optimism around Scotland following the first game against England has evaporated. Add to that we have now got an injury list that will test our now improved depth. However we look at it though, Ritchie, JG, Sutherland and Cummings will be missed.

Still Scotland are back were they are happiest, underdogs with no-one giving them much of a chance. We will surely play better than we did against wales, we will need to!

Jez, we could be getting a horsing today, but both French tries have been sheer brilliance

Some ropey Scottish defence, but my word the French are looking lethal.

The confidence to play is mad. Particularly for that second try.

France showing why Jones wanted a player like Tuilagi back in the side. Their ability to just run through Scotland is such a stark contrast to Englands toothless attack.

I was thinking of Hogg’s challenge on Biggar from a few years ago.

Surely that's not legal? It's incredibly reckless and dangerous. Can't believe the referee needed to be told.

Dickson is not fit to referee Premiership games, never mind internationals.

I'd say its a yellow. Not because the tackle shall we call it is bad but they've forgot to consider the overlap Scotland had.

And that has to be a pen try.

Struggling to understand why the ref didnt look straight back at that. So many issues with the contact and way the ball came out. Not one for endless TMOs for everything but there was the potential for a card there and game changing decision. Justice done in the end at least.

Kudos for Scotland for stepping up and getting back in this game, the way those two tries went over looked like theyd be taking a stinking here.

As the games gone on the ref might be more tempted to reach for the card or PT as well.

Only if the TMO coaches him - seeing him regularly in the Premiership I wonder how he ended up being let loose on an international - lack of decent options I guess

On the balance of the half overall, Scotland don’t deserve to be 9 down. That’s a choker. Massive points swing really, with the missed score and then that.

Messy second quarter from France, but a healthy lead and they will have the wind behind them in the second half. Scotland needed that Hogg chance to stick.

Thought it should have been advantage over for that last French penalty, also.

France are playing like the France of old.

Scotland looking a bit lost, some good moves then either Russell, or Hogg kick the ball away.

Is it just me or are France taking the p$ss at the line out? They repeatedly threw Woki across the Irish line out, were warned, and then continued to do it without sanction. Here they hold Woki up excessively, get warned and a penalty awarded against Scotland. I hope the Wales and England staff make sure the referees act a little more consistently in their games.

They are, but are getting away with it, so why not!
