Well I can't say I would be surprised but if anyone was paid more than Holt this season, I can see why he would want a raise. He was our best outfield player last term, so hence his salary should reflect that. Howson could be on that much, very good player.

Would you take £6 million for Holt Tooze?

See I think it could be a double edged sword. £6 million for a 31 year old who has had one good season is a lot. But Holt is a lot to this club. He won us the second most points in the league with his goals behind Van Persie. He is a big influence and I think he would be very hard to replace. And then we would need two new strikers to come in, and for me Rhodes would have to be a must buy.

Thing is, Norwich could now offer Holt £35k but the damage is done.

Same with Ashley Cole, agreeing a £60k deal at Arsenal then being told he's only worth £55k, so he arranges a move to Chelsea on £90k. A real inspiration to all of us.

Holt is the top English Premier League goalscorer behind Wayne Rooney, he'd be worth the money for his goals.

Add to that the fact wages have gone up since Ashley Cole left Arsenal, £35k back then (5 years ago) would be more like £25k anyway.

I think Holt for Norwich is worth stumping the money up for. The damage is done I agree, that is why he will probably go. But I would pay him that, he has won player of the season the last three seasons here, he has such a big influence on the club. He is the captain, and I think he is our inspiration on the pitch sometimes. And what he has guranteed for us over the past three years is goals. That would be hard to replace IMO

That doesn't really come into it. If you're a chairman, you pay a player what he's worth to your club. A 21 year old might get a longer term contract than a 31 year old but the wage would be the same if their value to the club was the same.

Age would only really apply to transfer fees.

Gregers, remember how the other day I was moaning how Crawley Town hadn't arranged a friendly with Brighton...

http://www.crawleytownfc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,11025~2817097,00.html

Friday 10th August at 7:45pm at Broadfield Stadium.

£9 for an adult on the terraces, £4 if you pass for an Under 18. Bargain IMO.

Well, that decision depends on how old my baby son is by then...

First two friendlies (Peterborough and Millwall) are end of July, probably miss them and see Charlton at home (August 1st) and Brighton.

Messi needs to win the WC otherwise he will always have that doubt over him.

Last year Messi was getting bummed in Copa in his home country didn't even score a goal no one even mentioned it, Ronaldos first two games he was crucified by all. He is always fighting a losing battle against Messi with all the anti Man Utd and Madrid fans.

Was it Hero who said that they show Messi with UNICEF and Ronaldo living the stylish lifestyle. Messi is an arrogant fool, the way he cries when someone tackles him fairly he thinks they don't deserve to make a tackle.

Because Messi looks like a troll and is a midget his bum chums feel the need to love him harder.

I don't think it matters which league a player has done it in when comparing

Messi > Ronaldo in my opinion
Ronaldo may be more complete because of his physical attributes but if I was making a team from scratch Messi would be picked ahead of Ron.

He's vital to his club, you only need to look at the goalscorers list to see Real could probably survive without Ronaldo, but where would Barca be without Messi?

Sodhat, but I could say Jeff Hendrick is crucial to Derby, he runs their midfield. Doesn't make him better than Messi though OK

No, but Messi is crucial to the best club side in the world dragging in countless medals, there is a massive difference.

You could argue the case that Xavi is as crucial to Barca.
Also the 'best club side in the world' failed to win their domestic league.

Don't make me list their titles from the past few years!

I realise I'm probably fighting a losing battle against a sea of United fans, but Messi will always be > Ronaldo in my opinion. Xavi is a key player too, as is Iniesta, but Messi is the one finding the positions, finishing the moves and in some instances creating something out of nothing all on his own. They rely on that a great deal I'd say.

If I was making a team Ronaldo would be there before Messi, I can expect him to score goals and make an impact regardless of the style the team plays. Messi needs the team to be in perfect tune for him. I don't see him doing it for Argentina even with all the top quality players they have.

Ronaldo > Messi
