He does although a bit of a mix up over who should take that high ball there. Doing well though!

Typical Edinburgh in that we've not been that bad, Ulster haven't been brilliant, yet we're 15 points down!

Seconded clive - McKinney and Andrew both having great games.  I tell you something else, Court might be gone at the end of this season, but the way Callum Black is playing Court may not be first choice anymore regardless.  Every tighthead he's come up against this season Black has turned inside out.  WP Nel is getting a pasting in the scrum this evening.

Edinburgh need to sort out the scrum or it could be a long evening. They are giving them far to much time in the backs now as well.

Need to really tighten up in the second half, these guys have not played together all that much and it shows!

Spot on re Black - what's more, I think Court predicted this and when he saw the opportunity of a longer contract elsewhere, he hadn't much thinking to do really.

Surely the high tackle on Tonks should have been a double yellow card for Ulster's 15 and 19, suspect the ref chickened out because two players were involved as you usually see straight yellows for that?
However,Edinburgh kicking the ball away too much, especially as Ulster's backs look really dangerous.

Given the ball away so easily any time we've been in their 22.

Been penalised off the park!

Ok the game is over but that was much better. I like the look of Sam Beard, he has done plenty good things since he has come on. Grayson Hart offers a more muscular option as well.

Good to see Edinburgh sticking at it, another score would be nice

Cave seemed to go off with cramp then came back on as we had no one left. Then he banged heads with Trimble and went off again for blood!

Well there shouldn't be many positives from such a spanking, but I thought there were some strong parts to individual play - just need to merge it into a team performance

Ross Rennie was brilliant when he came on and olly Atkins and Atiga played well.

Absolutely shafted at the breakdown though.

Is it true that Dougie Fife was the only player in the Edinburgh 15 to be born in Scotland?

Edinburgh have the look of a band of mercenaries about them.  A lot of South Africans, Argentinians and the odd Islander in there as well.  A lot of them are very average players as well,  Solomons has his work cut out.

Fair play to Ulster they looked sharp and well worth their win.

A few players put up their hands off the bench for Edinburgh, but the depth is clearly not there for them yet. I think we will see a bit more of Hart and Beard though. Rennie as well of course, but we knew he was good already. He looked like he had never been away!

I don't think Rennie was that good, gave away a very silly penalty, and didn't take his man for Diack's try.

Atkins very good though and much better than VDW imo.
I can't believe Nel played that long despite getting destroyed at scrum time.

Yes, but there were others who have cone through the youth ranks and sercerak SQ players.

Our problem is a lot of our players, abd our coaches, came to the club at the end of the summer so we're very much playing catch up!

Fair play James McKinney. Shut me up! Also Ricky Andrew did very well.

Hopefully the injuries aren't too bad because it's getting ridiculous at this point. Strong performance from Tuohy, Cave, Marshall and Gilroy. Actually Diack and Wilson stood up well too.

Seriously??.

He was responsible for a large number of turnovers and made a real nuisance if himself. Also worth remembering he'd barely played in a year!

Fortunately for us, our main rivals in our HC group have a very nasty injury crisis themselves.  Parling the latest to be ruled out for 3 months today.

I thought he was possibly the standout player from both sides, between him and Gilroy and it is never easy to look good in a side getting thrashed!

Yeah i know about the turnovers but overall he did ok imo, not exceptionally well.

With the ref interpretation of the breakdown i would have liked to see him start at 7 and Leonardi at 6 though, i mean Grant was totally anonymous.

If we have anyone to line out.

Stevenson, Henderson, Allen, Marshall and Cave went off injured.

Our injury list before this game kicked off stood at McAllister, Muller, Ferris, Henry, Williams, Heaney, Porter, Wallace, Olding and Payne. We're on such thin ice.

Payne is due back as will be Jackson and Deccie fitz (best and Bowe will probably need rested)

Cave and Marshall didn't look too bad fingers crossed. Lock and backrow is a real worry although I thought Tuohy and the backrow did excellently today. Pienaar back next week too?

Just back from the game; some observations

-McKinney brilliant kicker at goal but pretty average in every other aspect of the game. Revolving door in defence, got no distance when kicking to touch when we had penalties, bottled a high ball that was incredibly routine- he looked a bit overwhelmed. I wasn't pretty impressed with his all round game but he did the basics well enough and didn't let us down. He at least took the ball to the line before shifting it. Well done.
-McKinney really is a brilliant kicker at goal- can we have Jackson at 10 and wheel McKinney out NFL style to kick?
-Diack had a great game. Good to see him carrying the ball with real aggression and he is very good in the wider channels.
-Henderson... oh dear, oh dear. Back ahead of schedule, only to break down in the first half. Not suprised at all. Whats the point in rushing guys back when it just means they'll be out longer overall?
-Cave was outstanding. There was a massive gulf in class between our three-quarter line and the visitors.
