Well we still have Diack, Wilson, Doyle for Treviso

with Henry, Williams back for Montpelier and Leicester so not all lost yet

I agree down to bare bones though.
If I was Humph I'd be signing a backrower on a 3 month contract now

We have that most difficult of dilemmas facing us for next week- McComish or McComb? Not much faith in either player. Probably would go with McComb just so we didn't have to move Diack but we only have six guys for positions 4-8 without dipping into the Academy and only three of them are truly convincing for the first team on a regular basis.

On the up side, the front row, halfbacks and three-quarter line are all looking very strong.

Watched it last night. Same old story with Edinburgh, finger firmly pressed on the self-destruct button. Poor kicking, silly individual errors and a complete inability to follow the ref's interpretation of the breakdown.

Still, it was a funny old game in that there were some decent individual performances. I really enjoyed Sam Beard's performance and Cornel Du Preez is possibly a bit too good for Edinburgh. Atiga carried forcefully as well. He's a different player to the one who started for us last season by wheezing his way around the pitch.

It's the error count we really need to fix, and I think Harry Leonard could usefully sit down with Solomons and analyse that performance. He's a young lad and still learning the game, but his was not a great performance. We need to stick with him and allow him to develop. I still maintain he has the raw materials to be a useful stand-off for us.

Du Preez definitely looks like the best signing we've made in a long time - let's hope he goes on to have a Stauss like influence on Edinburgh.

A backrow of

6 Du Preez
7 Rennie
8 Denton

Sub - Basalaia

Should be a major asset this season if they are all fit an on form.

Agreed - that's our first choice back row and a mighty good one. Better than the soap dodgers in my unbiased opinion.

Here's hoping that is the backrow that lines up on boxing day!
