That's exactly the attitude I'm going to have when working at my job in 6 years time.summerblues wrote:

Andy needs a break. No doubt Abderson will give it everything if he gets to 5-4.

I remember a 23yo Anderson in 2010 getting just a few games vs Murray at the Aus open.
Now this. Peaking at 29.

Murray's playing a great set here. Surely Kev has to give him some look at his serve?

Great return crushed back for a near winner. What can anyone do against this?

My point is, lots of players seem to be peaking around that age and that goes against the grain of peaking at no later than 27.

Feel the break for the match is about 80% chance here.

I agree. I suspect its probably because its the longest spell we've had without significant technological change. Combined with players coping better with injuries and experience now tells.

The usual suspects on in the morning, let it be known how hard both guys gave it out there. Both deserve a lot of respect, the early tactics costing Murray ultimately

What a TB and what a match from Kevin. He blasted Murray off the court.
I know you guys would have preferred Andy but I am glad that attacking players continue to do well this USO.

Utter rubbish - tactics were pretty much perfect. A breathtaking performance by KA. No-one on earth would have stopped him tonight.

KA will struggle to recover but, if he does, Stan is toast. Its the first time I can recall Andy going out of a tournament playing somewhere near his best tennis. Incredible display. Really hope he goes on to take the title.

Kev Wont take the title. That was 4 and a half hours. Stan alone looks a huge obstacle right now.

Re: US Open Day 8 - Will Rojer need the Vasselin for his Lipsky? Will Kontinen's collide?
Well played Anderson but I'm at my most hacked off with Andy, ever!!
His shots had absolutely no pep, simply because he's severely overplayed himself
After his intense (and successful) spring / early summer, WTF is he doing entering Washington not long after the Davis Cup heroics? Why on earth play at Cinci, when the initial plan was to skip it?
Probably, prepared the least well for this slam I can remember since his early days - no wonder he picked up a bug
This isn't an excuse, I just can't believe how daft he's been - he's 28 not 18
He needs to take a leaf our of Roger's book and let's hope he remembers for the remainder of this year and at least tries to get the O2 trophy
Very annoying

Re: US Open Day 8 - Will Rojer need the Vasselin for his Lipsky? Will Kontinen's collide?
In all honestly Murray didn't do too much wrong. Given the Anderson he expected to play, he probably executed the correct gameplan well.
But that Anderson didn't turn up, and Murray was a bit too passive and couldn't move Anderson around as much as possible. His second serve was also a bit attackable, as we'd expect, and his slices didn't seem to trouble Kev.
So Murray didn't play badly, but he didn't play his best either. Anderson was beyond insane, he's the last player I'd expect to turn in a performance like that. He always seemed to be a decent server who plodded to R3/R4 of every slam before losing to a top player, a sh*t version of Berdych. Not tonight.

Berdych. KA's everest. Even though he is taller. Maybe he is Mauna Kea as he is taller than Berd. Shut up.

He wasn't near his best. If he had he wouldn't have lost so many long rallies. His 'execution' shots that he delivered so well for that 5 month spell - right up to Montreal, were none existent. Granted, not many returns were missed, that he would normally have made, but there were enough in a close match like this
How many frigging break point opportunities does he need in matches at this event? He must have created 50 and taken about 5 of them!!!!
That's the form of a player, far too overcooked - who underestimated the impact of that important Davis Cup match and what effect it would have on the mind and body

Andy was not bad, he was quite decent, but not at his best and he continued to play way too passive. Cost him this time.

And I do not realize why he was being so passive as must have seen he was the most defensive playing player left in the draw, and that should have told him something.

Exactly. He's inevitably going to be passive given his daft schedule before this event. He did well to put up a fight, but I'm still annoyed because there was no need for Washington and he should have had the sense to stick to his initial plan and pull out of Cincy - let Roger have the No.2, it's not that important to jeopardise another slam
The only thing I don't like about his 'new' coaches is that they seem to think that playing for the sake of it is the correct thing to do. It isn't
I hope he does nothing more than the two Masters events (not forgetting the Davis Cup) up to the O2 and I'd even favour him missing Paris
Masters / Masters Cups and Slams are far more important than ranking points, now

Fed's match going as planned so far - no service breaks and Fed takes the 1st set TB 7:0.

Murray should be sitting in stands on Arthur Ashe for a lesson on how to play TBs and big servers. Federer up 7-0 in first set TB takes it.
