Well done the Brain for a fifty which became a ton and even more you Jimbob

Get ready to applaud the Corporal for the same achievement (1,000 posts, not a Surrey century

Meanwhile, all looking good for Surrey. As well as the Brain's century, another 70 odd for Jordan (River awash with runs

Re: surrey vs essex county championship division 2
Well another good day for Surrey thanks to River, Brain, Vscount and Ojha. Assuming the weather holds out I won't feel comfortable until we get 1 more wicket, after that hopefully Meaker can come on and blow the tail away again but these 2 are very good at this level.

Another good day for the lads - just wondering why Nora has been ignored in the bowling department?! Anyway, like Carrot, I just want this stand broken then I think we'll go and on win it..............just worrying me that these two look quite comfortable!

Probably not the time to mention that Foster was dropped fairly early in his innings by the Brain off Meaker ....

Re: surrey vs essex county championship division 2
That is very annoying! After his hundred though I'll let him off and at least shows we created the chance. If it is a dry day I think we'll win. It is a very odd feeling being confident in a Surrey bowling attack (some of them anyway!).
I am quite excited about the prospect of having 2 new ball bowlers who are both very capable of taking wickets in Linley and Lewis, could be a very potent attack if it ends up Linley, Lewis, Dernbach, Meaker and Ojha with Tremlett potentially available more often than this season as well.

Yeah, it would be great if we can keep Ojha for next season, although I think we also need to get in a top batsman to shore up the batting.

Although that bowling attack sounds great, Meaker at seven may put some pressure on our batting

Yes, although on paper our 6 batsman policy works quite well with two experienced quality players sandwiched between exciting youngsters. However Ramps lack of form has exposed us sadly and Roy/Maynard/Hyphen seem unable to build an innings and value their wicket enough. Hopefully they will learn these lessons in time and come back stronger. I said before that it wouldn't surprise me if young James Taylor from Leics is a target although potentially he will be playing for England for then next 10 years so possibly a bit pointless. Unfortunately I don't think we have anyone coming through or in the seconds who is good enough to step up at CC level with Spriegel, Harinath and Wilson the main contenders.

Yes, very true! Unfortunately there isn't a lot you can do when your 5 best bowlers are all bunnies with the bat!

The West Country was rather hoping that Essex were teetotal and therefore not extremely hungover tomorrow...
But they can join in the celebrations after they have scored another 207 runs if they wish.

Morning all - frustrating that the internet was down for 24 hours at a crucial time in the season!
Congratulations on Jimbob for his tenth century of the season! And happy birthday too - a day late delayed).
Forecast for today has changed completely from when I said it looked good. There's a real chance of it being rained off....
Fantastic performance from River -
