If you get the chance, you should look up a player called Patsy Houlihan. Me old da said that he was the greatest he has ever seen, better than Alex Higgins. I think even Jimmy White raved about him.

He was an old man when i saw him play but he had quality even then.



As for who will dominate, i would suggest that no player will. There is just too much class out there now for any one player to dominate in my view.

every sport goes though single player dominance in an era and then a field of strong players. It even happened in golf and tennis in the 00's which is a sport with massive participation. I couldnt ever say never, but out of the current crop i cant see any dominant players, but i am sure we will get a top 2-4(like the higgins,osullivan,williams we had recently).

That is exiting anyway- sport needs this big time match ups and that creates a massive audience.

It would be great to see a random chinese(dont know enough about them but i dont think ding will be the player),possibly trump,brecel and jones.

Imagine having a couple of uk, an irish, a chinese and a mainland european up there fighting it out for a period- that would elevate snooker onto the world stage

Selby, Robbo, Trump, Brecel and A. N. Other

selby allways looks burnt out to me in the biggies, he seems like the luke donald of snooker, week in week no one better , but then seems to apply to much pressue on himself in the worlds. I hope he can fullfill his potential and get one or two mind

I think it's because he's so consistent in most/every ranking event (except this years WC of course but that's to be expected) he plays more matches than anyone else. Until he cuts down on his matches, he'll never win the biggie at the end of the season.

Agree, he deserves at least 1 WC but you don't always get what you deserve.

My top 5 are more likely.

I think predicting a top 5 is very hard given the new schedule and tournaments , players wont play in all of them so ranking points will be a lot more shared about .

IMO i think players will pick and choose which tournament they play in so the face of snooker will change

they have to come up with at least 2 localised tours for my money- one in asia and one in europe- have 8 big major events around the globe that carry more ranking points but all part of both tours

I cant see a world tour working in the long run..

Agreed Kenny, there is just so much good talent around now and waiting in the wings for me to predict a top 5 in 5-7 years.

well i dont think barry hearn wants it- and i suppose why we allready have more chineses ranking events than uk ones, so her can prevent any split from occuring.

I am all for different tours- however ranking has to be fairly attributed and that has to be centralised

Lets be honest the more ranking events the better for all

Mind you i also had a feeling at the start of the tournament that Ding or Robbo would win it so dont go placing any bets on my feelings

There has only been about 5 of us post on here before the Worlds so hopefully some more will come. I advertised the place on some other snooker forums so hopefully we will see some new posters.

I can do updates on the PTC events and rankings after this. I follow the snooker season all year round (albeit courtesy of Wikipedia + World Snooker website).
