surrey vs Gloucestershire lv county championship

Surrey have named a twelve man squad for the LV=County Championship game against Gloucestershire at the Kia Oval starting on Sunday.
Tom Curran, Gary Wilson and Chris Tremlett all return to the squad.
Stuart Meaker and Jade Dernbach have not been selected so they can prepare for the start of the NatWest T20 Blast next week  
i wonder if that's the reason Arun Harinath has been left out as well    
Vikram Solanki is currently not with the Surrey squad due to family reasons which are of a private nature.

Agreed but we'll be pleased (and Gloucs will be disappointed) to get to stumps without loss. Admittedly, the weather helped but Smith was - for once - looking very good.

We at least have a chance - how much, we should know tomorrow lunchtime provided the rain keeps away. If you gave me a quid now, I would put it on Surrey but it is your quid, Corporal, and I have had a drink!!

Sounds a little bit like Smith took the old fashioned approach of swing yourself into form!

A good start but a big total to reach. If we want to have any hope of getting there the batsmen are going to have to fight through their tendency of allowing one wicket to immediately herald two or three.

Feel sorry for anyone who turned up at the Oval today but probably best for Surrey that we still haven't lost a wicket and (hopefully) have a full day of good weather ahead.

Glorious day - perfect for batting.

The 4th day of the match but effectively a day 3 wicket.

Gloucs expected to be a bowler down.

The Surrey openers have already almost put on an undefeated 50 partnership.

What can go wrong?   

I'm listening to the commentary of this game as I've not really got a lot on this morning, this Churchy chap is quality!

Going well 83-0! It could be a season defining day I reckon, win this and the confidence the 'kids' get could set them up for the season, lose it and we're back in the mire! Come on Surrey!

Hi Mat - glad you're enjoying it. I'm listening in as well from home. Churchy's fellow commentator Jonny Barran also has a very good understanding of the game and many other things. He is nothing like the "silly arse" that Churchy makes him out to be and which he (Barran) plays up to. Had a chat with Barran at the Oval last year about the merits of Debbie Harry - musical and otherwise!

Going well for Surrey so far and the home side should now be favourites. Smith could have been run out early on today - Gloucs must be wishing they could have that chance again.

Yes he is very good as well, once he turned up anyway going by what they said in commentary! The commentator from BBC Gloucestershire is also quite decent as well.

Very fine peformance by Smith.    Shame to get out just before lunch.  Now need the rest of the patchy Surrey batting line up neither to panic nor to get bogged down.

Surrey have scored 8 runs in 8 overs since Smith's dismissal. Whilst time isn't an issue, we don't want to get bogged down. A couple more quick wickets and the game will again have a very different look.

At last!! Well done lads, a great comeback............in the end!

Yay! Got there eventually.     

An incredible win considering where we were on Monday lunchtime. Neither are my favourite players but I have to applaud the individual contributions of Tremlett and Smith which respectively brought us back into the match and then set the pattern for us to get home.

A word of thanks as well to the weather gods. Whilst we had to face just 17 balls yesterday, less than 5 miles away at Lord's they had the best part of a full day's cricket, albeit in conditions that were far less suitable for batting than those at the Oval today.

Just got back too late to catch the end of the commentary but excellent and long overdue win!

  to Smith on an excellent if long awaited innings. To post the highest individual score of the match by a distance at that strike rate is no easy task and really took some pressure of the others.

 

Greetings fellow Surrey fans! Finally found time to log on to 606 .... Not that there has been too much to celebrate thus far this season...still a great win today....really pleased to heat that Davies was in the runs today..as well as Smith. lets just hope it inspires the team going forward....unless we can sort out our batting..its hard to see the lads making a serious promotion bid...
