It was noticeable that he didn't hold Trudeau's hand in the same circumstances. Obviously resolved his fear of steps, or whatever it was! You're right - she kept a low profile, in theory a remainer, but who really knows?

The irony of the modern world, people like Labour policies but apparently they are an unelectable party. Tory policy generally poorly received, for example the NI farce, but apparently utter nonentities like May and Hammond are deemed to be safe hands.
I genuinely don't think this Govt has a clue about Brexit, the hard Brexit line is just posturing while they dither over what kind of deal they actually want.

Widely believed this character is now running the United States, and is presumably the facilitator of Farage's relationship with Drumpf.

Good effort by May today, telling the SNP to get knotted. See what happens when Brexit is decided instead.

super,
Perhaps that's the point; hardly anyone in the U.S. has heard of him either, but his work with analyitics outfits is directly focussed in identifying vulnerable voters and targetting them, directly or indirectly, relentlessly. And, in the US, inserting his own people to do his political bidding.

You are the first person I have come across who is a fan of May. You do hold some odd political opinions for a guy raised in working class fife.
Kwini

I'm not a fan of May in the slightest Mac, I simply think denying a referendum until the Brexit situation has been sorted is common sense. I haven't praised her or her party in any other way for anything else they've done.
Also, what makes you think I was brought up in the working class area of Fife? The St.Andrews area is very affluent, it's only areas like Leven, Glenrothes, Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy and other southern areas of Fife which are the working class areas of the county.

We are well and truely into the era of big data analytics. The amount of information people put on social media is insane, I wonder if there will be a move back toward privacy, and what the reaction of those that benefit from harvesting peoples information will be.

I can't see that BTB, information is too readily available that Pandora's box is already wide open. Even supermarkets know a huge amount about us on the basis of what we buy, when we buy it and in conjunction with what.
I don't begrudge people using information that's freely or legally available or volunteered, but it's when it comes to obtaining information illegally where you have a problem.

There are many undoubted benefits to it Super, but I don't think most people realise how much of their privacy they are giving up and what it can be used for. Like targeted advertising or targeted manipulation like Kwini's talking about.

I see what you're saying BTB, I just don't people are willing to give up the things from which their data is obtained.
I don't have a problem with targeted advertising. I'd rather see an advert for something I might be interested in than something I wasn't, I still don't have to buy it.

Read an article today giving a suggested reason as to why Google is into driverless cars. It's to give information as to who drives past businesses to those businesses.Be_the_ball wrote:We are well and truely into the era of big data analytics. Also more and more people are consuming ALL their online content through social media, this means everything they consume online is controlled, news, politics, opinion, you name it. Their view of the world, influenced by their FB feed. Scarey.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
I'm not sure if most people realise their every move is tracked. You can see exactly where you've been in the last few years on google maps (if you took your phone with you)
Doesn't bother me particularly, but some people can be a bit funny about that sort of things.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
The problem I have with targeted advertising is the time it seems to go on for. I usually either buy a product or decide not to, once that decision is made I have zero interest in the products, which makes the ads fairly tedious.

I don't personally care how much money Osborne earns, but seriously, to stay as an MP and pretend you give any kind of toss about your constituency (forgetting conflicts of interest), is an utter joke.

I'm forever hearing how depressed the Danes are, it's a pretty dreary looking place as well, bit like the north east of England to be honest. I'm not sure anyone is actually that happy about where they live these days, troubled times and lots of conflict.

Denmark is pretty dreary in terms of countryside it's more like Lincolnshire than the NE, but Copenhagen is a fantastic place, and if you're a heterosexual male, then you've probably got a very good reason to be incredibly happy. I'm sure Mac would say the same for the male population also being good looking.

Now what has Norway got going for it? Largest sovereign wealth fund per capita on the planet, and "liberal" political policies. Oh and access - paid for - to the EU single market.

Perhaps Diggers, I've probably been there about 20 times though, so know it better than most, so it ranks more highly for me.
I agree though, many cities in Europe are probably comparable, which is maybe why European countries rate so highly in the happiness table and Britain and the US fared less well.

True, I used to hate Brighton when I lived in London. Now I live 5 miles away and know it well, I think it's great, though prefer to be just outside. I'd say the happiness rating around where I live would be good, other than having a complete tool of a Tory MP and far too much dog poo (both very similar issues in my book) I love it here.
