Scotland v France - Autumn Nations Cup 2020 - Page 3 Empty Scotland v France - Autumn Nations Cup 2020

Post by NeilyBroon Tue 17 Nov 2020, 10:33 am

First topic message reminder :

Scotland face France at Murrayfield in the second round of pool B's fixtures.

Previous results:
Sco 28-17 Fra - Murrayfield, 6Ns 2020
Sco 17-14 Fra - Murrayfield, WC warm up 2019
Fra 27-10 Sco - Stade Francais, 6Ns 2019
Sco 32-26 Fra - Murrayfield, 6Ns 2018
Fra 22-16 Sco - Stade Francais, 6Ns 2017

Pretty even Stevens excluding the WC warm-up, with both sides boasting a 100% home record in the last 5 fixtures. France will be looking to turn the tables after Scotland ended their 6Ns run and in turn end Scotland's record-equalling winning run. Scotland will be looking to improve on a mixed bag against Italy and maintain their home record against France.

And France get a scrum penalty on the stroke of HT and go for the corner

I think it was a combo of Jonny's height and his body position. Tough one but I think would've been harsh to card him.

Hmmmm

Am I wear rose tinted glasses here?

Barnes have a knock on when it was ripped and then talked the TMO out of a penalty

Crucial calls too.

Scotland hold out. Can we get out in the second half and play some instead of tackling all day?

Yeah that Chat thing was very borderline. Personally probably a yellow but I can see how its judged as a brace for contact.

Perhaps not a card but it’s a penalty. He led with the forearm.

Dumb game management from France.

Scotland will be delighted with the HT score.

Great first half! Scotland look so much more organised than they did last year. Some poor errors though. Kinghorn at the start bumping Rattez and then his long kick, some sloppy rolling away but Barnes is being very quick on that which is his style. Overall a great performance though, just a bit unlucky in attack at times. Second half could be very entertaining!

Great half of very tense rugby, I've enjoyed it in a masochistic way! I'd like to see nomaits on for kinghorn, I think his defence has been poor and just a few mistakes that we can't afford in something this tight. Maitland is a steady hand and a great distributor. Also get berghan off I'd say, his contribution has been a penalty so far imo.

Understand the logic as given by Barnes. Its just an oddity of the way the regulations are now for high contact that as a tackler you'd be red carded and made to watch Wales Georgia second half for that kind of high contact but as the guy with the ball you can run into people and they have to take responsibility for being charged safely.

TBH dont think anyone would've been too outraged if it were given as a penalty and/or card.

Wouldve though the slog suits Scotland more than an opening attacking game, so don't wish too hard.

Definitely. This autumn has very much highlighted his shortcomings. He needs a dropping to iron out his mistakes off the pitch.

“Tackle complete everyone away”

When Duhan caught that he should have taken off. He’d have gone the length without a french player in front of him
