Glasgow and Edinburgh 28 and Counting - The banter goes on!
First topic message reminder :
28 and counting, where do we get the energy!
Another Glasgow re-signing coming up this afternoon, following on from the White Rhino, the animal theme is hinted at again. Who could that be?

Not going well so far! We seem to be losing all the physical battles now

We just can't get any form of momentum this half. If we score next then it really is game on.

I'm going back to bed! Most of this pressure is of our own making. So many errors. Terrible performance in the 2nd half.

Physicality, discipline, kicking - sounds familiar

This is a pumping. It was a fully loaded Munster but that hasn't counted for much this season with only 3 wins.
Pretty dreadful stuff from Edinburgh in that 2nd half.

Pretty disappointing from Edinburgh.
I don't think Munster had to do anything special to win that game comfortably. Edinburgh seem to have left their form behind going into the 6N

Edinburgh’s season going off the rails after a strong start. How very Scottish!

It's not gonna get any easier - off to Saracens next then Castres at home.
At least we have the easy win 1872 games after that!

Missed the game but doesn’t sound like the team handled the Munster fight back particularly well. It sounds like there’ll be plenty to review though. Do Edinburgh have a lack of edge since cockerill left? The backline is undoubtedly better but Edinburgh seem to roll over when the physicality increases. Just reading the match report and it sounds like Carberry had a good game. He’s a great fly half.

Well Glasgow finally manage to get over the line in Parma and pick up a BP for good measure.
Far from convincing but the conditions give some mitigation and they certainly took a good grip of the match in the second half, having laboured for much of the first half.
Highlights were Oli Smith, who looked assured at FB, taking every ball that came his way and also showing his great footwork. He looks to have grown in confidence from his Scotland exposure this autumn.
George Horne, who is turning into a dead eyed kicker, he did not miss one all night, to the point where it somewhat flattered the scoreline.
The Glasgow Trumpeter, who I have had the pleasure of sitting a couple of rows in front on other away games, who burst into a rendition of Z cars every time Johnny (The Scouser) Mathews scored a try!

Caught the replay of the Edinburgh match. The overthrow by Harrison only a minute from halftime was a killer blow. That one let Munster right back into the match. All that was required was a simple lineout, a maul perhaps? a few carries by the pack? Boot to touch, 17-7 halftime. Instead Munster start the second half 17-14 and with some confidence.
Great break from Crosbie in the first half to setup the Dean try, but a brainless offside from him to gift Munster the attacking lineout and ultimately a try in the second half. The misunderstanding in defence between Nel and Mata was another soft one but Carberry delayed the short pass really well and his eyes were on those deeper backline players which totally bamboozled the Edinburgh defenders. Great Munster attacking play.
Slipped tackles galore by the end, overall a very sloppy performance. Looking ahead though that performance will surely help the coaches make some positive changes and find the defensive fixes to get this expensive Edinburgh side firing.

Some pretty harsh but fair comments from fans on the Munster performance. Really needs to be a boot up the e**e motivator for thé coaches and players this week.

This is going to be one of these pre-RWC years where we both finish in the mid table slurry at the end of the season and have the faint whiff of being interfered with.

Twould appear that Dempsey is definitely out of Saturday's match. Ragnar and Kebble looking doubtful.
Apparently the maximum daytime temperature will be 2 degrees C, or 937 Fahrenheit, by my calculations.
Can't wait.

Shame for Darcy, Edinburgh and Scotland. Been in best form of his career and was probably going to be the leagues top try scorer this season if he had remained injury free. Bet Blair is glad they signed VDM now. That has worked quite well from a management point of view.

Between mcinally not able to throw for toffee and shields dropping balls or standing at rucks looking off into the distance, Edinburgh have thrown this away.
A really good performance ruined by 4 or 5 moments of utter incompetence

We had an absolute walk in 2 on 1 and Lang ran it himself and got held up over the line (fantastic bit of defence from Farrell it must be said). Real momentum shift moment.

Just watching the highlights - that was a dreadful attempted tackle from VDM fo Daily 's try.
Urgh how did we not score after the interception? (Also how did Hoyland not score himself...?)
Looks like we went toe to toe with one of the favourites so that's good I guess

Well an away point a Sarries is not to be sniffed at and if they can win at home next weekend, they definitely are in the competition.
Could have been more though. Really surprising Hoyland did not have the gas to run that one in, it would have been a gift to most wingers.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh 28 and Counting - The banter goes on!
He looked incredibly slow but I think he had some heavy involvement prior to that intercept so perhaps he was a little out of breath still. I was more annoyed with Sheil who didn’t position himself well as the support runner. Hoyland couldn’t tell if he was there and correctly held onto the ball to avoid getting isolated.
I feel like I’m being super critical of Edinburgh this season but it’s only because they’ve got such a brilliant squad. The gain line success yesterday against Saracens was really impressive but so many costly errors. Need to sort it out to remain in the comp! Especially thé bloomin lineout

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh 28 and Counting - The banter goes on!
I would have to say, watching the match last night, the stand out Edinburgh player for me was Luke Crosbie.
I have always thought that he was a BS playing OS, but even if he is, he carries the ball like a steam train. He and Christie, who also played well when he came on, must be neck and neck in the Scotland pecking order now, with Crosbie just shading it based on that head to head.
You really do feel he needs a chance in a big Scotland game to show what he can do.

Re: Glasgow and Edinburgh 28 and Counting - The banter goes on!
Both Scottish teams may well be struggling to play their games on their home pitches this weekend due to the weather.
With temps down well below zero, the sand under the artificial pitches is frozen and may well make them unplayable.
Contingency plans are in place to play both matches at Murrayfield if that is the case.
Not sure if that will mean crowds are allowed to watch or not or how it will effect TV coverage.

Glasgow game officially switched to Murrayfield and it seems spectators will be allowed.
Probably the right call early, wirh little prospect of the Scotstoun pitch being playable in the current frigid conditions.
Glasgow, nor the competition need a back up of fixtures at this stage of the season.

Well there's an early Chrimbo pressie for the East Coast Liz Truss groupies.
You can go and watch a real rugby team on Friday night (and Perignan). I imagine the SRU will be discounting the tickets more than somewhat; FES has already been on the blower to his accountant to see if a block booking will be tax deductable as "domestic staff...Christmas Party/bonus in lieu of salary".

Glasgow team for tomorrow evening...
1. Jamie Bhatti (75)
2. George Turner (83)
3. Murphy Walker (10)
4. Lewis Bean (23)
5. Richie Gray (90)
6. Matt Fagerson (83)
7. Sione Vailanu (4)
8. Jack Dempsey (26)
9. George Horne (88)
10. Duncan Weir (127)
11. Rufus McLean (24)
12. Huw Jones (50)
13. Sione Tuipulotu (C) (26)
14. Sebastian Cancelliere (16)
15. Josh McKay (19)
Replacements
16. Johnny Matthews (34)
17. Nathan McBeth (9)
18. Simon Berghan (17)
19. JP du Preez (9)
20. Sintu Manjezi (9)
21. Euan Ferrie (3)
22. Ali Price (116)
23. Tom Jordan (8)
Injuries have ruled out the Brotherhood Of Man: Jack and Bat.
Shug at 12 and Shona at 13 looks very promising. Canceliere-Mckay-Titman is a very, very fast back three. I think FES and tigertattie owe it to all of us to sit in sub zero temperatures, drink lukewarm Bovril and appreciate a very good Scottish side.

Jones definitely isn't a 12.
Not ideal that Scotland's 12 and one of our key options at 13 are playing at 13 and 12 for their club respectively!
