Nah, Tsonga always starts slow in his matches with Fed, expect him to improve by the 2nd set but this isn't on grass where Tsonga can streak through his service games.

If Ferrer loses he's gonna be toast against Roger.
He's gotta win this match.

Ferrer just can't make a first serve. It's getting ridiculous.
Now a DF to give the break.

Looks like it. I think that Berdy will be a bigger challenge to Tsonga than Ferrer, so it could be interesting...

With great respect I will say that Murray can and should learn a lot from Ferrer for on court behaviour when it gets tough. The guy is a star.

Yes - They are making it easy for Federer. Not only he will play a tired Ferrer, if there is such a thing, and then in the final, should he get through will play the winner of a tough match played 6 hours later so again very little rest before the Sunday final.

I don't want this to sound too critical, but Djokovic's attitude and body-language has been pretty ordinary throughout. I understant it after the season he's had, but there's no doubt in my mind he won't be too fussed about going home.

Yes Djoko had probably left London anyway. he was hoping he could go early, so that was his nice xmas present from Berdych.
I however don't understand why those current 2 top players don't take that tournament seriously.
It's strange really. It was ranked as the 5th slam by all previous generations.

Nole won it in 2009.

Ok but he should fight for it every year. He clearly made a joke of it in 08 or 07 too.
It's nicely spread 5 matches over 8 days, many points and some prestigious names.

Novak tried his best, but that wasn't enough after the injury break. Nothing bombastic and gory, sorry.Very easy to understand.

One thing for sure is that he hasn't overtaken Federer as the most successful player in a season, nor McEnroe for that matter.

I disagree. McEnroe himself said Novak's season's the best in history. 10:1 against Federer and Nadal; you of all people should know the balance between quality vs quantity, remember ... the guy sleeping with many women

Confused here. I thought Berdych will play Federer tomorrow and Tsonga Ferrer?
I know Ferrer has never beaten Federer but this is similar to 2009 when Fed played Davydenko who had never beaten Fed before until that day.
I hope history does not repeat itself!

Okay, worked it out. I do hate when a player who has never beaten Fed plays him as I always think that the law of probabilities will kick in and a loss will follow.
Would it be too much of an ask to expect Fed to defeat Tsonga a 3rd time in the space of 2 weeks should both reach the final? Same applies to Berdych as Fed's just beaten him in Paris.

Entertaining match tonight! I know I am being a bit dim, but I am struggling to understand how Berdych tops the group with 2 wins that took 3 sets, and a loss in three, and Ferrer second in group with 2 straight set wins and 1 3 set loss. Is it because Berdych has won more games??? But, then he has conceded more as well??
Help appreciated.

But the number of wins versus top 2 and top 3 is not that relevant here. He hasn't as good a W/L ratio as those above nor has he as good a record in slams and Masters as Federer. So surely, it's not good enough.
That's what I call quality...not the number of wins v Nadal.
And McEnroe woudl tell anything as long as he makes sure he jumps on the next bandwagon.

TP, if wins and losses are the same it goes to H2H. Berdych beat Ferrer thus he tops the group

Well you're not alone tp. The official ATP site had loads of scenarios up earlier, then they disappeared as they were wrong! Does it come down to the head-to-head in a 2-way tie? I have a feeling it might. Proportion of games won comes in to play when there are 3 players on the same points as the head-to-head is circular in that case.

Thanks Positively, if it is percentage games won and Berdych on top, then I guess that makes sense. I sort of got that if Berdych had lost this, then Novak would go through as he beat Berdych - the h2h would come into play if 2 players had same number of matches lost and won.
Can't help feeling it is rough on Ferrer when he managed 2 straight set wins, not least (though I know this point is moot) over the No 1 and No 3 seed.

That one wasn't meant to be the last one. Unfortunately Federer's opponent deserted when faced with the ultimate challenge. I guess seeing Nadal being bagelled scared him off!

Nothing scares Nole. Not even the in-form GOAT. Beautiful, isn't it?
But I do hope you have a glorious night on Sunday. Shame is the trophy presentation goes so fast when you are there, people just pour out, I was staggered last year.
I hope to see a Federer Tsonga final (hey, wasn't that the first match of WTF this year as well?) and plenty of beautiful tennis. Had enough of all the exhausted, fatigued, over-zealous dramas. Just could do with a tennis match for a change. Blinkers free, AGAIN!!!

There is a very good explanation at this link... http://www.atpworldtour.com/Rankings/Finale%20SF%20Qualifications.aspx
Emancipator... for my earlier comment regarding h2h. H2H does play a role when two players are tied, but not when three players are tied.
