Germany v Greece (Friday 22nd June, ITV 1, 19:45 KO)

The pre-tournament favourites Germany made light work of the Group of Death, dispatching Portugal 1-0, Holland 2-1 and Denmark 2-1. Germany are now heavy favourites for this Quarter-Final which, if they win, would book their fourth consecutive semi-final at a major tournament. Their opponents are Greece who somehow finished 2nd in Group A after a 1-0 win over Russia made up for defeat against the Czechs and a draw against the Poles. It really is David v Goliath this one and the winners will play England/Italy.

My prediction: Germany 3-0 Greece

German newspaper Bild is reporting that Mario Gomez, Lukas Podolski and Thomas Muller are all being left out of tonight's quarter-final against Greece. Miroslav Klose, Andre Schurrle and Marco Reus will reportedly replace the rested trio.

If anything Reus is more talented that Muller, this guy is a sensational talent and single handely guided Gladback to the Champs Lge and now plays for Dortmund. Klose's record speaks for itself and if anything he's a more natural finisher than Gomez who can be very unpredictable. Podolski is probably the one player you can't really replace on that left hand side. I still think they'll beat the Greeks but it won't be by a country mile.

Yeh where has Gotze been? Still surprised at the team but it shows how much confidence he has in these promising youngsters coming through, even though its against Greece. Obviously Klose has been the main man for years.

I know Reus is a very good player but I don't know much about Schuurle tbh. Should be interesting. Its either gonna be a 3/4-0 to Germany or for me a tight affair, maybe a 1-0 to Germany like Portugal last night. My money's on the first scoreline though.

Only question is why Germany are only 1-0 up. If Greece want any hope, they were 1-0 down against the Poles after a terrible 1st half display but came back stronger in the second half and drew 1-1. Go on Greece, have a go!
