I'll say it now, Cole is a better leading solo striker for the premier league than any Norwich have on their books
I'll believe you about Carlton Cole, if you believe me about Michael Turner
Lets just say I'm not convinced about RVW yet, especially for a lower miserable side playing one up front. It's a hell of a role in the Premier League for the smaller sides, people underestimate how hard it can be to do effectively for 90 minutes, rather than long enough to fill some clips in a YouTube video. For a variety of reasons id rather have RVW, but there's performances of such importance Carlton puts in that RVW couldn't is all.
I get what you're saying, and that was basically Holt last year.
I know what you're saying about RVW, but I guess we'll find out if how he adapts, and if he can put in such a shift if needs must.

So fabregas seems like a non starter.
Fair play to moyes for offering big money for a player who would solve a lot of problems in our side.
Wonder who the back ups are.

Our main problem however was the service to the striker. Fer will hopefully go a long way to improving that. We still need someone to play in the hole. Wessi can be good, but is too inconsistent and doesn't really offer a great goal threat to make up for that either.
I can see us signing Hooper in the next week, which I am willing to give a go. He'll provide good competition for RVW, able backup, goalscoring threat off the bench. I also fancy Becchio to play a half decent role this year, chip in with a few, with the improved (hopefully) service

From what I've seen of wolfswinkel he can hold the ball up superbly if it's played into him but you might have a lot of long games If you are lumping it up to him to challenge for headers or run into channels.

I think that explains why we're in the market for a CAM, and a ball playing CB Ent (Alderweireld we were)
I think most Norwich fans are looking to see a progression in the style of play more than anything. Last year we relied mainly on hard work, and graft to grind out results, this year I think we want to see us win games, off the back of our quality.

Do they actually have a clause? What is it? I know a lot of people want to think he'd only go back to Arsenal but I don't buy it. They're not good enough.

Theres at least first refusal and share of cash over 25m. Prob more
Point is, stop wasting time on this I'd suggest. It's a very long shot

I think if £40m was the price then United should pay it. They've been crying out for a CM for such a long time and there are not many around better than Fabregas imo. With some of the prices of other transfers this summer £40m is not too bad for someone of his level.

Apparently Napoli have agreed to sign Gonzalo Higuain for €37m, plus a further €3m if certain bonus are met.
He would be the icing on the cake for a squad that is looking really really impressive.
Looking forward to seeing them in the upcoming CL.

I don't know why Hooper isn't rated in England. He was deadly in the Championship for a really bad Scunthorpe team before he moved to Celtic. Does playing in Scotland make you a bad player? Don't answer that!! To all his doubters, Jelavic. That is all.

I'm not really sure why he isn't rated, scored goals galore in the lower leagues, in Scotland, and in European competitions.
Was 3rd top scorer in the Championship with Scunny the season they went down, ahead of Carroll at Toon who ran away with the title

Bale would be an excellent signing for Manchester United, if he wasn't going to cost maybe a world record bid, for that kind of money they're better off bidding for Ronaldo.

Yeovil sign Alan Tate on loan from Swansea - Surely he is too good for Yeovil! I actually think he is good enough for the Prem, but i guess he joined Yeovil for maybe travel reasons.
Sheffield United sign Conor Coady on loan from Liverpool - Rated highly by Liverpool, could be a good move all round.
Oxford sign Johnny Mullins from Rotherham - No relation to Hayden Mullins.

I'm always hesitant when a big player for Rangers or Celtic has moved south. Reason being, they usually won't go to a top four club and so will be in an alien enviroment. No European football, no longer 'THE' team in the league. And a lot of the time, moving is a step down in some regards,. QPR are not a big team, Celtic are. In fact, if you look in terms of fan base, history shows only Man U and Liverpool can touch Rangers and Celtic. Its a sad state of affairs to go from Celtic to Southampton or QPR. No doubt that the EPL is the place to be and Hooper will do alright but doubt he'll set world on fire. 15 goals a season guy imo

Fair enough if thats the attitude elsewhere but after the Champions League run last year and win over Barca, I remember sky sports going mental when usually they couldn't care less. And as for not being big outside of Scotland, go to Tenerife, go to New York, go to Chicago, Vancouver, Rome, anywhere, are there ever any QPR pubs haha. Agreed that people don't care about Scottish football but doesn't take away from the fact they still have the most passionate fans in U.K and thats enough to get where they want to go. It's hard to explain, but unless you grow up in Scotland or Glasgow, you'll never understand the magintude of Rangers and Celtic here. Nothing like it in rest of U.K an maybe a good thing as its not a goldfish bowl.

Liverpool have a big fanbase worldwide, they aren't a big team anymore either.
Summed up really that Celtic do their shopping in the Championship or other small European leagues these days. Very few PL players are looking enviously north of the border

Agreed that scots teams go looking in lower leagues but then levels of success in Europe over last 10 years considering the little money spent must be even more impressive

yeah, coefficient suffered big time, but since 2003, there's benn 2 UEFA cup finals (when they mattered), a couple of last 16's in Champions League etc. And a lot of amazing results against the world powers. Not bad considering the crazy spending was done by then and Rangers/Celtic spent like top Championship team.

Re: 2013 Summer Transfer Window Thread.......................Continued Again
A debate that has no real correct answer, whether the two clubs would have thrived without the ease of success due to the poor standard of Scottish football is hard to prove either way.
It is certainly a more attractive proposition to play for a mid table premier league side with aspirations of growth than to play for Celtic.
However, these clubs are now such behemoths within Scotland that if they were to move into English football their revenue streams would improve vastly, and if they could consolidate to begin with then they could soon become powerful rivals to any established side. But it won't happen.
Celtic are in a bizarre position. They can focus so much more on champions league football as they have no real competition for the league. This period before Rangers storm back in is their best chance to grow in European football

If its actually a legit bid, I'd have to think hard on it if I were Liverpool.
Don't think anyone abroad is likely to match, and 40m for an unhappy player whos already suspended for next season and is generally a pain in the bum

there are similarities i suppose with henry and sureaz.. But if I was employed by arsernal i would be going with a strong player. Higuan, rooney or tevez- ideal for them in my eyes.
just push the boat out on rooney for 50 m! that will knick him
