Is lube really a distressing smell?

Yes, I fear the culture club has reached a low ebb.
Has Rowley been on the boxing boards? I can't read them anymore due to the proliferance of words such as 'kudos' and 'props'.

We are indeed in a lull sean, as for the boxing boards, I tend not to go on them also any more, mainly due to repetition and hyperbole which is rife at the moment despite Chris and Hampo's best efforts...
Though not seen Rowley on there...

Really like this Galted:
Are You Drinking?
washed-up, on shore, the old yellow notebook
out again
I write from the bed
as I did last
year.
will see the doctor,
Monday.
"yes, doctor, weak legs, vertigo, head-
aches and my back
hurts."
"are you drinking?" he will ask.
"are you getting your
exercise, your
vitamins?"
I think that I am just ill
with life, the same stale yet
fluctuating
factors.
even at the track
I watch the horses run by
and it seems
meaningless.
I leave early after buying tickets on the
remaining races.
"taking off?" asks the motel
clerk.
"yes, it's boring,"
I tell him.
"If you think it's boring
out there," he tells me, "you oughta be
back here."
so here I am
propped up against my pillows
again
just an old guy
just an old writer
with a yellow
notebook.
something is
walking across the
floor
toward
me.
oh, it's just
my cat
this
time.

You should watch Barfly. Mickey Rourke plays a character based on Bukowski, all he does is get p1ssed and get the sh1t kicked out of him, it's one of my favourites.

Read a few of Bukowski's books. I really like "Ham on Rye". but "Women" was pretty rubbish. Can't remember any strong feelings either way about "Post Office".

A discussion that could veer off into a discussion on the works of the 'beat' authors is about as close as we have ever been Rick. Is dangerous new ground.

To quote Aldous Huxley it's a "Brave New World" and an impressive one at that boys, good effort...
Though Shah will be along soon to de-rail the thread I suspect, so we may as well bathe in the culture glow for a while longer!

Irritated as hell, back sore and heavy radio unbashed against a skull.

Re: The Culture Cup Round 6 - new but not really improved
I work security mate - usually where they expect trouble. So Watford wickes head office - which is rather tastefully decorated I might add - gyppos were expected to turn up. Apparently they'd been and gone - then I was sent to the next site where they were expected to move. Apparently they were headed downhill towards us and turned off at the last turn. Couldn't even leave the post as the guy they'd assigned to work with me was like a mini me of Andy Hamilton.

Not really Sean, but its usually easy work. You might get attacked once but as long as you arent intimidated you can add 50+% to your wage for putting up with some childish verbal abuse. Occasionally there's a crazy guy who you flatten with a radio to the skull but otherwise alot of money (relatively) for not much more work.
Re: The Culture Cup Round 6 - new but not really improved
Late on here today.
I'm guessing that, like me, the rest of you have been up all night shagging.
Except Shah. He's been up all night waiting to ht gypsies with a handheld radio.
