Quiz Thread
I am sure the exists somewhere already but the idea is that you post quiz questions for the rest of us to tackle.
To get us going I will go for a gentle question from yesterdays pointless.
The concept of pointless is that the question is given to 100 people before the show, and each correct answer is accompanied by the number of people in the 100 test group who gave that answer.
The more obscure answer score lower points and are therefore better.
The question was,
Name any UK golfer who has represented Europe in the Ryder cup since 1979? Can anyone get a pointless answer. I will restrict this to one name per poster.

Re: Quiz Thread
I should confess that I watch pointless pretty much everyday as my way of unwinding after work. So sue me
I shall therefore not be participating in this round, but IIRC the requirement was UK Ryder cup golfer from 1979-2012, so 2014 excluded?

Re: Quiz Thread
The objective is to give a correct answer with the lowest number of points.
hopefully once this question is dealt with someone else will post a question of any nature they want.
I like your answer. We will have to wait for a few more responses to come in until points are revealed.

Everyone going for the bonus points but no one answering the question. No I don't know either but didn't someone hole a putt down the aisle of concorde where the ball travelled about 200 miles from club face to hole?

I heard about a guy who holed a putt off the tee on the 5th on the Eden. That's about 130 yards, but I'm sure most courses have someone who's done that.
200 miles? Steady on Davie.

I used to have a habit of chucking up a ball and smashing it away with a putter, until I put about 20 deg of loft on one.

Re: Quiz Thread
Davie it was olazabal who holed the putt on concorde. But if you do the maths it can't have been more than 3 or 4 miles.

Pfft. Only 3 or 4 miles. Why bother?
It did take him and his caddy 196 miles to line it up though.
Seve wanted to have a go but his drive ended up in the galley and had to hit an outrageous carving 6 iron to get back in play.

Re: Quiz Thread
If you use the concorde reasoning all putts are pretty much the same length if you consider the earths passage of travel on its orbit while the putt is in motion.

Re: Quiz Thread
It's a ridiculous claim. It's like saying you ate a sandwich that was 600 miles long because you ate it over 6 hours on a train journey.
To claim any sort of "record" for something like this is plain stupid.

Sorry missed this as I posted my question. I started this with golf questions in mind but actually any topic could be fun for us to tackle. So post whatever you want.
If you have something in mind just get it up.

I mean one major championship event. There have been at least 70 masters I think, so very far from one event.
