First topic message reminder :

Not a great position for Saints, captain and international level hooker looks likely so they've resorted to signing what is at best squad filler. Presumably Haywood and Fish will carry the bulk of the playing time.

Another instance of England needing to cap him and take away the choice. Tompkins only found out he was welsh qualified late last year and wales snapped him up. Granted at his age he could go either way but take the choice of wales out of there, which then clearly helps leicester keep him.

Sam, John's current contract is up in 2021 anyway and I think the message is pretty clear by now. I'm not sure if Sale had the idea of doing the Francis-type contract with him as he wasn't on the Wales radar back then. I think it's the Blues he would likely return to.

Yep and now, like Joe Heyes, he is due to sign for Dragons.

Tompkins is linked to Dragons now, as it seems the other three don’t want to be tied to a loan for him, when he will likely miss a huge chunk of next season. As we are still owned by the WRU, we don’t really have a say in the matter.

He will go to Blues when he transfers properly, I reckon.

Joe heyes isn't due to be signing for dragons.
If anything when he was being looked at by Wales Cardiff was the club that wanted him.

Are you sure you're not thinking of Joe Thomas?

Tomame should be a good signing for you, add some physicality to your midfield. You've got no chance of landing Joe Heyes though. He's definitely staying at home where he belongs.

We all just told you that Joe Heyes was going nowhere. There's been quite a few links what with Wales chasing after anyone with a tenuous link to Wales and who plays rugby.

Tigers have confirmed the players leaving this summer. They have also confirmed that defence coach Blake is also off.

Gaston Cortes (Glasgow Warriors loan)
Guy Thompson (Ealing)
Jonny May (Gloucester)
Jonah Holmes (N/A
Sione Kalamafoni
Owen Hills
Tatafu Polota-Nau
Will Spencer
Adam Thompstone
Ew Viljeon
Joe Thomas
Joe Batley
Rory Hughes
Andy forsyth
Ifereimi Boladau

Keston Lines
Cameron Jordan
Sam Eveleigh
Costelow (Scarlets)
Kyran Bungaroo

Some of those were loan signings.

Spencer has been good when match fit. Getting him match fit has been the issue. Niggling injuries and then he takes two or three games to get back to full fitness. He's not been a bad signing just an average one signed on a not so average contract. His cause hasn't been helped by Lavanini coming in and looking like an absolute beast.

Cam Jordan might be more in Dragons price bracket a young lock that likes to throw his weight around. Tends to pick up cards from what I've heard but a rough diamond.

Because he's still a rough diamond and one thing we have coming through are locks. We have four 19 year old locks with three of them age grade internationals. Jordan hasn't kicked on enough to keep ahead of the next selection, it's harsh but I still think he could do a job somewhere, he did ok on loan in the Championship by all accounts.

For next season we have;

George Martin - an absolute brute, England age grade lock who missed the 6N unfortunately can't remember if it was injury or suspension. Good hands for a big lad. We have high hopes.

Chessum - released at 18 to Nottingham where he played the full season generally being third choice. Brought back to Tigers and was part of the England under 20s squad for the 6N.

Henderson - poached from Glasgow. Has already played for the Glasgow first team and played for Scotland under 20s in the 6N.

George Manz - the other George from the successful academy second row partnership. Somewhat in Martin's shadow. He may find it tough to get another contract next summer without a development leap.

We also have several promising flankers but are lacking a natural monster at 8. Have loads of scrum halves but Scarlets have nicked our notable flyhalf. Short in centres as well though one should finally make the grade from the academy.

I could see Sam Eveleigh getting some senior rugby under his belt and coming back up to the Premiership. A really tough back rower who's very good at the breakdown. He could be a good pick up for a Championship side like Ealing or Pirates.

Is Will Spencer still linked with Bath and Worcester? I was excited when he signed and not particularly worried he's moving on to be honest.

If it’s to happen then Spencer is probably more likely because of Dean’s Wuss connection. It’s a big set piece lock who’s a hard carrier that is required, in fact two of those would be grand.

Cam Jordan? Tigers website has him at 6ft 5 and well over 18 stone. I think he just needs to go down to the Championship or Pro D2 for a season or two and get game time under his belt. Not sure he'd end up more than a Prem squad level player though. The other locks we have have more international aspirations.

Carlos I think Spencer to Bath is supposed to be a done deal.

Tigers website does seem prone to exaggeration. They have Harry Wells just shy of 19 stone for instance.

England under 20s seemed to have quite a few lock options. I suspect we'll need them though as the trio of Launchbury, Lawes and Kruis are all advancing over 30 and so the likelihood of making the next world cup is slim. I'd expect the Sarries boys Kpoku and Isiekwe will come through to join Itoje fairly swiftly.

Rowlands actually has another year left on his contract, I got that wrong. Dragons and Blues might still be in the market for a NWQ lock. Dragons and Ospreys are supposedly the ones interested in Owen Williams and Faletau should they be available.

The article just said Wales. My understanding is he may have another year on his contract, but Bath do not see him as value for money. Not a good time for any player negotiating contracts though.

It would make sense if Faletau went somewhere to maximise his earnings. He isn’t captured by the 60cap rule. It would be nice to get him back in Wales jersey as well.

I'd expect Faletau to return to a region. I'd be surprised if he got higher offers elsewhere than the top bracket for dual contracts. He's made 34 league appearances in 4 seasons with Bath - admittedly the 4th cut short. Difficult to see where the return on investment comes from for his club side.

One of my favourite players but he seems to have hit the Warburton stage of only playing club rugby two weeks before an international window to prove fitness.

Manu Tuilagi's injury record outside of 2012 to 2017 is solid as well... Whistle

Jokes aside I think that a lot of international stars will find their contracts drop at the next renewal. Wage inflation has seen earnings for the big names flying up over the last few years. With rugby's finances taking a battering I expect those massive offers will dry up significantly.
