What does LiW's post about spiders have to do with insects?

I suspect that he may be several people as there can't be enough time in the year to be a wine importer, blood diamond dealer, wedding dress wearer maker, great granny fetishist, David Attenborough, northerner and rugby player - especially while you're dead.

I'm not even the dress maker, Galted. I am an admin assistant to the dress maker. Not assistant manager, assistant to the manager. I do still watch granny porn though. Can't deny that.

A solid start. I will take it. How was Hazlewood bowling? I thought he'd take more wickets in a day/nighter. He still might I suppose.

I love a good sound bar, it changed my media experience, i am excited for you.

People are getting all whiny because of lockdown but apart from that, all good.

I will be working next week, but f**k all happens so laptop and netfilx mainly.

Happy not to be cooking Christmas lunch for the masses.

Thanks for being excited for me, I will vicariously enjoy your excitement and add it to my own. Downside of having a destructive toddler and cable chomping cat about is that I can't go overboard on a decent surround sound system so a lower mid-range soundbar it is.

As I type the little b*stard is demolishing the trains I brought out for Christmas with the cat waiting her turn from just around the doorframe.

If you want my advice Galted, have another kid. Then they can fight with each other and you can sit back and watch as they tear into each other.

If you want some more advice, stop at 2. Any more than that and the enjoyment of watching them fight has a diminishing return.

Cheers, Tino.  Is very sound advice but unfortunately we have a one-bed flat.  Hoping to move to the States in the next few years which would enable me to buy a shotgun to keep the two f*ckers in line.

Problem with two young kids is that they can also tag team you as parents. One rests while the other wreaks havoc.

Having a second does make you realise how simple all the basic baby care stuff actually is though.

His favourite pastime at the moment is being swung by the ankles. Tenants have started occupying the block of flats opposite over the past few weeks so there's a good chance someone will see and call social services.

As a father of two, I agree with Rick and can confirm that Tina's advice is bullsh1t. Yes, they fight each other, but then they expect me to sort it out and that then usually inovlves both of them crying and my wife looking at me the same way that she looked at me when I puked all over her friend's house when we stayed there once.

Youngest perfected the technique of goading big brother into violence and then bursting into tears as a way of getting attention and big brother in trouble. They are masters of psychological manipulation.

My boys loved getting thrown into the air. A contributor to superficially great development of shoulder muscles plus regular trips to the osteopath and long term aches and pains. Luckily boys no longer require this as they are now 16 and 18.

If only. Both getting tall but skinny as hell (youngest has a BMI around 15). Still funny seeing no.1 son's reaction to no.2 son being taller than him. I am 6ft and am expecting no.2 son to be taller than me sometime next year although he is half my weight.

Yes. It is (more than) a bit esoteric but  I probably know more about modelling of heap leaching of copper than anybody else on the planet.

Spent 10 years developing software that was used by a company called Phelps Dodge (now Freeport McMoran unless it has changed name again), potentially saving them millions of dollars.

I was at a couple of universities. The company who subcontracted the work to me was based in Salt Lake and I used to travel out there up to 5 times a year

I see. You definitely know more about heap leaching of copper than me.

The rest of the goons on here will call me a stalker but the real reason I asked is that I used to be a precious metals trader for various places and I spent a few years working for a company that had a unit in SLC.

I went a couple of times. It can be a pretty cool place with the right guides.

Mind the windows Tino.

Somewhat off topic - I'm doing rather well on that front atm - but this reminded me of a story when I was working in the City a few years back.

During a typically ghastly project review meeting, a ''challenge'' (ie a problem) was highlighted. The director in charge of the show failed to understand the complexities involved and turned to the guy - an Indian gentleman, normally shy and reserved - dealing with the particular matter and suggested bringing in extra resources to solve things quickly. The Indian chap responded, ''Sir, you may give me nine women but I still cannot give you a baby in one month.''

I used to love heap leaching copper. Love it, I tell you. Probably. What is it? Don't answer that.

SLC is definitely a good place and I liked it more than most places I have seen in the US. Quite something when on the Saturday you can have lunch outside and on the Sunday go snowshoe walking. The Mormons really are nuts, but that gives everyone else a common enemy. Decent microbreweries with a sense of humour too - Wasatch Brewery's Polygamy Porter (Why have just one?) always made me smile.

Tough.

You take a mountain that has copper ore in it, blow it up, grind it into dust, agglomerate the dust back into gravel sized lumps, make a big heap out of it, pour acid over the top and collect copper sulphate at the bottom.

You can do similar things with other minerals. With Uranium you tend to do it in situ, as for some reason people don't like having uranium dust blowing around. In practice that means something more like drilling for oil or fracking. You put a hole down to where the ore is, use explosives to fracture the rocks, then make more holes. You pump acid down some some holes and a solution with your minerals out others.

People also use heap leach technology to extract gold, but in that case you don't use acid. You use cyanide. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000_Baia_Mare_cyanide_spill

All the best kinds of environmentally friendly technologies.

I am not even joking about the mountain thing. The main mine of the company who paid for the work was shifting in the region of 800,000 tons of ore, per day.
